New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!
Ok so today at orientation I was super confused when she was talking about the health core classes. I took them at sheridan along with some other people here. The hours match with the requirements she had up on the projector. Now, I got lost when she started talking about the waiver and override and if they would be accepted.. help please!!
Sorry I also forgot to add...the CEU's have nothing to do with registration. The only other thing that would block you from registering would be if you didn't pay the $20 application fee from turning in your application, or if you don't pay the $29 dollar fee for the drug screening, which she said should be charged to your student account in the next few days.
Yea and then the system went down so nothing could be done...I do see that I've been charged the 29 dollars for the drug screening. Has anyone received a deadline date to get all the background checks and drug screenings done from central or the online program as well as book lists from either? I still haven't. So stressful!!

You won't get any of that stuff until after registration. It is based on what campus you to go. They are all different! The only email you will be getting right now is a schedule for each of the campus, so that you can register. :-)
I have not seen anything in the email regarding a schedule/booklist. I did see the $29 fee & I paid for that as well as the background check. I live in Dade County but the system would not let me pay the $33 for the drug test. I guess I will be billed for the $4 later. Does anyone know if they approved a site where we can complete the ceus' besides going to the college?
It was super easy to register for the CEUs at Broward (they are online) and it was less than $75 through the school. I was surprised no one asked about ceufast.com in the orientation. Taking it through BC seems to make sense since it's convenient (online) and you don't have to worry about whether they will be accepted or not.
Has anyone gotten a schedule from Central campus yet??

I paid for the background check today....hoping to get the 29 dollar fee paid by Monday and I'll be going into the college then as well to make sure I don't have anything barring me from registering on the 3rd..... : ) I also have an appt scheduled with my pcp for the full physical and shots. Hoping to have everything taken care of by the 10th at the latest and just waiting for results. I think the physical will take the longest to get back and the earliest appt was on the 9th....

She said they would be accepted as long as the hours match, so we are fine on that. As far as the waiver we all received a waiver for the HCP001 course that is how we got accepted to Nursing. For the people who have taken classes that transferred, but do not have the same course name as the pre-req's do at Broward, then you will need to get an override from registration or you will be blocked. For example, Broward requires us to take Chem 1032, if you took another level Chem that transferred, such as Chem 1040, but didn't not have the same course name (Chem 1032), then you will be blocked from registering because it will not recognize Chem 1040 and will say you do not have pre req's complete to register. She stated that she would go through the list of students and send registration the names of people that would need an override, but she said it is in your best interest to go to registration and do this yourself just in case. Also, she said for those people who are transferring from another school and have never taken classes at Broward College must go to registration and fill out a re-entry form, so that they will not be blocked from registering. Hope this helps clarify any misunderstanding. Let me know if you need help!
