New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!
All I can tell you is to apply and wait! You never know what will get you into the program....anyone could be accepted no matter how many points you have! If you were meant to be a Nurse than by gosh you will become a Nurse!! LOL:hpygrp: Good Luck!!
I total agree with you. I just thought it was odd that I got accepted and she didn't;Her points are higher than mine. I scored a 76 on the AP portion of the HESI and she hit 88, other than that the only portion of the HESI i scored higher than her on was reading I had a 96 and she had 85, we both scored in the 80's on the other subject.
I just feel so bad for her.

How were her grades for the prereqs? I think that has more to do with your acceptance then your HESI scores. Its my understanding that for the HESI you have to reach a minimum score to be eligible but then your grades for your prereqs are what gets you in. She should try to go there and speak to someone if she had good grades too. Its hard to tell someone that you will get in if you just believe and its meant to be when you have done everything you can and other people are getting in. Good luck to her!
Ok, Pre Admissions is over, Now I hope I can find motivated classmates to agree to get together before school starts.
The first semester will be very hard. (mostly because of bad planning) Nation wide the drop rate is 50% that means half of the people in pre admissions will drop out before the semester is over. I've worked in higher education for 7 years (prior Director of Student Services) and this is a FACT. If you don't plan to win you plan to lose! I'm hoping to find Palm Beach classmates to study with since I live in WPB.
i set up a page on a social network site that rhymes with tastebook and i called it "broward college nursing jan 2011" :) everyone can use this site to share ideas with and schedule meetings on. better plan now, i can' t tell you how many of my prior students had to drop out because they didn't know how much work was ahead of them. i worked for a university here in florida (that i don't recommend at all) and nyu in nyc. trust me, everyone thinks they are ready...but few get to stay and play.

We only went for 2 hours and this is the first class that we will be using the book. The first class was basically reviewing everything that was on the math portion of the hesi. I think it would be worth it. Plus if you are going to Central she will be your math and clinical teacher so you will get to know her. Also, she said the test that she gives at the end will be very similar to the one she gives in the real class. Overall, I think it would be good for you to take it.
