  1. No email yet. Stilll patiently waiting..
  2. I haven't received an email for an interview yet. I'm starting to feel a little discouraged . I submitted my application for the MSN program March 1st and everything was verified by the 8th. The last email I received was a few weeks ago about possibly applying to the MSN-DNP program because there were more spots available. Well still waiting.. I'll keep you guys posted.
  3. Wow. Well I didn't have a peer interview. It was just interviewed with the Nurse Manager and Clinical Specialist of the Unit. I never even went through HR to get the interview. I sent the Director of the unit an email explaining why I would love to work on her unit and attached a cover letter and resume. The next morning I got a call from the Nurse Manager asking me to come in for an interview. The interview went well. I even got a tour of the unit, but I've been waiting for a call back and I'm starting to think I didn't get the job. Every time I call HR I get the voicemail. Soo frustrating! Lol.
  4. How long was the hiring process at Memorial for you? I interviewed last Wednesday and the Nurse Manager said I should hear back from HR sometime this week.
  5. I didnt use the CD's. But I would reccomend using them. The more questions you do from different sources the better.
  6. As long as they're attached to the medical history and physical form it should be fine. But check with the Nursing Office to see if they will accept it.
  7. ok.. i'll start with math. it's pretty easy. you don’t need to buy the book. just do all the practice problems in workbook a at least twice and the test will be a piece of cake. be sure to always set up the problems "her way." even if your answer is correct she will mark it wrong if the way you set it up is different from the way she taught you; so pay attention to how she wants it done. you are only allowed to get 1 question wrong on the test. if you miss 1 or more on the first test you'll be able to get a second chance to take it again (usually the following week.) i've got nothing but 100%'s on my math tests and trust me when i say i am the worst at math!! pharm is the easiest class you will ever take in your nursing school journey. you do not need the book. it will be a waste of money. in class he tells you everything that will be on the test. just print out his notes and highlight what he wants you to know and study from that. i always studied the day of the test before class and i ended up with an a. it's just basically memorization. you'll love him as well. funny guy. now.. for the more serious stuff. process 1.. she is a great teacher; really helps you grasp the concept of "nursing." i'm not going to lie though, her tests aren’t hard but they are tricky. before class i suggest you read according to the objectives "the module". i basically took the objectives, typed them out into a word doc, then when i would read before class i would just find the info that answered the questions and type them into my word doc. then i would go to lecture, listen, take notes, and record. then when i got home, i would fill in the info from lecture into my doc. then i printed them and used them to review for the test. (typing everything into a word doc was a little time consuming but i just seem to learn better that way). for process the only book i used was perry and potter and i used fundamentals success and test success for practice questions. there’s a lot of reading in process. read everyday and try not to fall behind. time management is key! don't buy that package of books together. buy things as you need them. some books they say you need but you don't use them at all or use a couple pages which you can look on with someone else. mostly all the clinical instructors are nice. they might seem intimidating at first but they’ll start to warm up to their students. they’ll teach you skills. then after a few weeks you will have a return demo where you show your clinical instructor you know how to do those skills. (ex. vital signs, bed bath, head to toe physical assessment etc..) if you don’t pass your return demo you won’t be allowed to go to the hospital. so take use of lab opportunities to practice your skills. just try to survive the first semester, it is the hardest one. there’s a computer program in the lab that helps students with understanding “nursing tests.” i recommend doing that before the first test. work hard, study smart, stay organized and you’ll be able to make it through!!
  8. Congrats to everyone that got accepted for Aug 2011!!! :yeah:I'm currently in my 3rd semester at North Campus (starting Psych in Aug.) If anyone has any questions/concerns or needs any tips/advise.. especially pertaining to North Campus just let me know and I'd be happy to help :)..
  9. Yes! North Campus is THE BEST. You're going to love Mrs. Brickman (you'll have her for NUR 1 and 2), she gives great lectures.
  10. Littmans are NOT required. They prefer students to buy the stethoscopes from the bookstore which are $20. But if you prefer a Littman or any other brand they dont care. As long as you have a stethoscope.
  11. We can have littman stethoscopes (I have a pink one) and the first semester was $1,403
  12. No.. the Health Career Core class is a class you take at BC. You dont get a grade, its just a pass/fail class. The 5 courses you do after you get accepted. The Clinical boom is Clinical Skills and Techniques by Perry and Potter. But I DO NOT recommend reading/teaching yourself things ahead of time because every teacher is different and all clinical instructors like when you do things "their way."
  13. Good Luck to everyone waiting to get in for May 2011.. I got accepted for the Jan 2011 program at North Campus and I must say I love it so far! Its a lot of info that you have to know and you're going to have to put in a lot of time just for Nursing Process but I know we'll be able to do it. I'm learning soo much and I'm meeting a lot of new people. Mrs. Brickman is THE BEST and I just wanted to say I made it in the program with 9 points!! so if anyone out there is a bit intimidated you can still do it. If anyone has anymore questions just ask and I'd be more than happy to answer. Good Luck!!
  14. I read the WHOLE Vital Signs chapter and did all my highlighting. I also wrote out the objectives into a word document and just typed in the answers as I went along. I havent answered any questions at the end of the chapter yet and I havent read chapter 5 in the skills book.
  15. Just to make something clear for those taking Math on Fridays at 1:00pm. Our first day is on the 14th right??
