Broward College January 2011

Published

New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!

Has anyone gotten points awarded on their application status? If so, how many? Also, they don't allot points for the HESI?

I have 17 points total. I wasn't eligible for HOSA points. I wish they did give points for doing well on the HESI!!!

Oh wow...I don't think I'm going to make it in. I have a 3.1 gpa which apparently translated into 5pts. : (

....burt I did do really well on the HESI. I wonder if that'll even matter...the wait is killing me!:nuke:

That's great that you did well on the HESI, I heard of so many people who failed it. Too bad they didn't give points for it!

I wonder if it'll even matter if I was only assigned 5 points:hdvwl:

This admission process has been incredibly stressful, and now even more so to hear 1000 qualified applicants are competing for 220 seats. By far the worst game of musical chairs I ever played. If you look at mathmatically, for every 1 seat there are 4.5 applicants ... I felt confident in the beginning having a 3.4 & scoring over 90 on the Hesi, however its becoming apparent it may not be good enough. Are there any current Broward Nursing Students that can provide information on what the gpa cut off was for last August?

There was no GPA cut off last August....there were soooo many issues they went only on those that passed the hesi. But the semester before that, the cutoff was 12 points.

Well that's depressing... I have taken all the classes I can and completed all the certifications. It will be a complete bummer not to be accepted this January. I'll keep praying for a miracle. We should hear something this week.

Last August (2009) the points cutoff was 9 with 8 being put on the alternate list. However, all alternates were offered seats at the orientation. At that time, the HESI test wasn't implemented yet, so that wasn't a factor. We had over 750 applicants (might have been a little more) for 300 seats.

Keep in mind, though, just because these applicants are "eligible" doesn't mean they all had a 4.0 gpa. It just means they passed their classes, had at least a 2.5 gpa and passed the HESI.

wait, shouldn't a 3.1 be like 6 or 7 pts?

i think they miscalculated my points...does anyone know?
