Broward College January 2011

Published

New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!

I'm taking statistics at BC with R,T she teaches it at Coral Springs Charter though. She had some pretty good reviews.

hey everyone! i also got accepted to the January 2011 class. I am so relieved to finally get back to school :) does anyone know when they usually have the required pre-admission sessions? i was planning on taking a trip out of the country before getting back to school, but I dont want to plan it until I know when the session will be. looking forward to meeting all of you

Hey Jan 2011 class. As far as to what I will be doing until January..I'm debating on to whether to take statistics or not...I have all the other stuff for the BSN I think except for statistics but I cant find a good teacher.

Bella02 when I retook the A&P I made a point to review in my own anatomy book anything that said "HESIT hint". Hope that helps.

Hey! I took Brasaeker for Stats. She didn't get very good ratings reason being she is kind of grouchy. But she explains every single detail and does not leave ANYTHING out! And she does her tests off of her notes so you will understand everything. She does make homework mandatory but it helps you stay on track and not slack off! I really really recommend her.

Thanks. I'll definitely try those HESI hints and try to remember the questions from the first exam.

Hey everyone:) I'm going to be applying for this nursing term once grades are processed for the summer term. I'm applying with all A's in pre-req's, just one B in my A&P II lab. A little worried about the HESI, though...I know we can use the computer calculator, but I'm still pretty awful at math!

Anyone else accepted/applying to Central? I have to go there, I live literally right across the street. I heard North is the best, but I'm not too sure why Central isn't supposed to be that great.

I am horrible at math, if you study out of the HESI prep book they sell at the school you will do great. I studied for about a day, know all of your conversions. And if you know everything in that section you will do great. I got a 96% and I suck at math. Good luck!

Hey guys! I was wondering if you have any information on the Health Career Core Courses. Is this a semester long course or are they individual courses? I am sooo confused! I have all the other pre req's needed to apply. One area says you have to have that prior to turning in an app and the other says once admitted they have to be complete before you start the nursing program. Then everywhere it says the HESI is for the August 2010 class...do we have to take that to or not? Some of the stuff on the website is unclear.

HCP, I think it's now known as HCP001, is a semester long course you must take before applying to the program. You can also take this at schools other than Broward. The other classes you are talking about that you need once you're accepted but before beginning the program are CAEs like BLS, medical prevention, etcetc, you can do them all online minus the BLS.

And yes, we do need to take the HESI, I e-mailed Broward and was told it still applies.

Hello everyone!

To follow up on my wife's post, go to CEUFast.com and you can get all your CEUs (medical error prevention, etc.) done online for $30. For your BLS, check out BLS CPR Initial Classes | American Heart Association Classes. They have three locations (one in Plantation) that offers BLS for $95 including the book, and it's the 4 hour course instead of the 8 that Broward offers (their course is $95 plus the cost of the book anyways).

I'm taking the Micro practical Thursday, and I'll be done for the summer! The Thursday after I'm taking the HESI, then applying as soon as I get my results and grades are up.

How long does everything take? HESI scores, knowing when you've been accepted, etc.? I'm so impatient to start already lol

You get your HESI scores the same day. You can even print them out at the site that you're taking it at. Or you can wait for an email of the scores which usually you'll receive the next day. You find out if you are accepted 30 days after Sept 15th I believe.

Just wanted to say that I took my HESI today. They gave me two stamped ("certified") copies of my results when I left and when I got home the results were also in my email in box.

You can take the Health Core at Sheridan tech its a little over $200, you get your CPR & CEUS that you need for the program . Its an 3 week online course and you go to the school about 2 times .

You have to have your pre reqs done before you can apply.

The Hesi is still in place to my knowledge , i would get the study guide from the bookstore majority of sections are the same BUT the A&P i would review the textbook. There was a rumor the HESI wouldnt count but it appears only people who passed the HESI got in regardless of how high their points were.

hope that helps.
