Broward College hopeful for May 2013 Nursing Program

I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!

I don't think that we're the last group based off the old requirements. My application says the new requirements and I was told that the new requirements helped me out. I think its due to me being reentry into the college though.

This wait is seriously driving me crazy!

We are the last group under the old requirements if you were continually enrolled at BC. If you took some time off though then your points are based on the new requirements. At least that is what I was told by my advisor.

Well thats the case then. I'm a career changer so I left college for 5 years and returned. I'm stressed out thinking about juggling the nursing program and my family (I have a 2 year old).

Does anyone know anything about Broward's daycare? I know they have one on each of the campuses and I found the tuition rates, but I just want to make sure my son is receiving quality care while I'm in class.

Same here. My advisor told me that for August you'll be required to have completed Mirco, statistics, and I believe one other class I'm forgetting, in addition to the current pre requisites.

I'm sorry, I cant help you there. I've never heard anything bad about them, though. Maybe you can stop by one day to just check it out and see if it is up to your standards. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

New students or reentry are under the new requirements. Continuously enrolled are considered on the old requirements. Even if you meet the new requirements but are continuously enrolled, only the only old requirements will be used to determine eligibility. The change has been confusing!

I have been looking for that breakdown for MONTHS! Thanks for the information.

It comes from the old webpage for the nursing program. With the updated requirements, they took it down, but I had it printed. Glad it helps.

Good morning... Not to scare anyone but I was told in orientation that only 100 seats were available for the May 2013 admission. This will definitely very competitive. I cant wait to find out. :/

Per campus or just overall? If overall then that does mean only certain campuses are accepting for May?

Exactly...they said that only North will be available...as far as Central and South they havent made a decision yet.

People if you have read the posts from previous classes, it seems that it always starts this way. Same thing with the changing low points, It looks like it changes, because it depends on the pool of applicants. So try NOT to worry too much!! We will have to wait and see. Don't get over stressed about what you read every year is different. Now keep hitting that refresh button ;p!
