I know there is a lot of confusion going around with the new requirements for the BC nursing program so I wanted to start a thread for those of us finishing prerequisites and applying in January. I'm in the Core class now, but other than that I'm finished with everything else and getting very excited to start next year!
I love their squishy mugs. I have a 4 year old male 90 lbs. Boxer rescue and a 2 year old 15 lbs female Pug rescue, guess which one runs the house? Haha.
Yep I know what u mean . Ours is almost 2 n have an 11yr pit/lab mix. Never thought I'd like an ankle biting dog, boy was I wrong-stole my

OK guys, sorry I hijacked the thread, but if any of you Pug/Boxer parents want to meet up for some dog park fun please let me know. My guys always need new buds so just PM me.
Ok, back to BC. It is 9:57 AM and I have only hit refresh 10 times since 8:00 AM when I arrived at the office... I'm doing well!
I've only checked about 3 times which is good for me. Just finished my painting project so now I need to find something else to distract me.Once you graduate, what area do you want to go into?
I either want to go into L&D, mother/baby, or NICU
First off, I know I am optimistic, but I want to go straight into FAU, UM, or Barry University's RN-MSN bridge program and become a NP as soon as possible. While I would love to end up in a hospital getting critical care experience, I at least have a couple of options as backup, especially if I decide I want to be a Family Practice NP.
A very good MD friend with his own private practice has already offered me a job, and another RN friend who owns a few outpatient peds clinics who has offered me one as well.
Who knows though, have to get admitted to the dang program first lol!
Actually several schools are offering the RN-MSN bridge program now. It is for RN's with an Associate level education, but when you are admitted you are placed in an accellerated program where you earn your BSN and Masters at the same time. You finish the BSN first obviously, but by then you are ready for the intense last part of the Masters program. It lets you finish the whole shebang much quicker than getting your BSN then moving to a regular MSN program.
As a side note they also offer BSN-DNP programs for RN's with their BSN who want to get their Doctor of Nursing Practice. (I also want to eventually get my DNP, but I am fine waiting on that for a bit)
I want to be a NP, so I've looked into some RN-MSN bridge programs as well, especially FAU's dual BS-MS bridge program. The only thing that makes me nervous about my qualifications into these types of programs is that I took Intro to Psych 9 years ago and got a C in it, and now I'm kicking myself since it's considered a prereq for most BSN programs or higher! Lol.
Probably oncology. As soon as I graduate I'd like to get right back into the classroom and work on a higher degree while working at the same time. I'm in no rush to get a MSN, that'll hopefully come in time, though I would like to see how the business/management side of nursing is.
Of course getting into the program is first and foremost. lol
