:yeah::heartbeat:nurse:

By the way, and not to completely inundate this forum, lol, I went to the Uniform Advantage (I think that's what the store is called) inside of the Pembroke Lakes Mall last night with my husband and bought some scrub pants that perfectly match our top, and fit wonderfully. So for all petite ladies, I recommend going there- they had a HUGE selection! They sell Nurse Mates shoes as well. AND Grey's Anatomy scrub pants in the color we need (just were a bit too baggy on me personally, but VERY comfortable and soft). My pants that I bought were around fifteen dollars! They have a huge selection of other equipment, too. And the ladies who work there are very nice and very helpful. There's also a large selection of sales items-I saw a few pants in the color we need that were marked down to 5.95! In sizes S, M, L, I believe. Open mall hours. Across from food court, down a bit to the left.

I saw it in the bookstore and it looked like it was almost in a soft bookbag..it was all packaged up so you couldn't really see what was in it.

If anyone DOES know what is in it--I'm thinking we can likely get it all cheaper elsewhere--please tell us! :)

The older gentleman that works the Central campus bookstore showed me what's in the lab kit. It's just a TON of gauze, bandages, etc. Basically, it looks like an assortment of all the disposable stuff we'll need to treat patients. It's $120 and it might be worth it just to pay for it all put together instead of hunting down every item in it and putting it together piece by innumberable piece.

My fundamentals book finally came today- yayyyyyyy! :) Now when to find the time to read it..hmm...

Titer results also finally came into the doctor today- but my doctor left the office without signing them. :banghead: So HOPEFULLY tomorrow the doctor will be kind enough to take the three seconds it takes to put his signature on the results. And then we can go get whatever immunization(s) we (my husband and I) need. Which should just be Tetorifice and Diptheria.

I have no idea where to go to get them done, though. We have Freedom Health (which is through Medicaid, we're in a reform county), so we're trying to go somewhere that takes that.

Still trying to get anyone to send a copy of Prof K's Nursing Process I syllabus, notes, powerpoints, anything we'll need; especially for the first exam. Tips too.

I think I might very possibly have the WORST pcp in the US. My husband and I went to the doctor to have our titers done, what, a week ago? They said they'd have the results in two days. They didn't get them that whole week. They got them yesterday--we were the ones who had to call and figure that out, of course, they didn't let us know that. And here's the best part! The results were put on the doctors desk, and he left the office without signing them. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The nurse said she'd try to get another doctor to sign the results because she said that would be fine, and that I could then pick them up that day. No call.

So today, my husband calls early before their lunch, and waits on hold for a good twenty minutes before hanging up. Then I call after their lunch and speak to a woman at the front desk who informs me the nurses have left early today due to an office holiday party and she can't tell me anything about my results and no I can't come in and get them and no I can't see if they're signed. She'll call me tomorrow. I asked to whom I could complain. They've known since a week ago how very time sensitive this matter is. Our information is due in a week from tomorrow, including vaccinations that we cannot get until we pick up our titer results. And Thanksgiving I assume everywhere will be closed.

My plan is tomorrow to just GO to the office with my husband and sort of firmly yet trying to maintain politeness, demand our titer, physical, and lab results. Original copies. The woman on the phone today said the office doesn't give out original copies of lab work. Only copies.

So hopefully tomorrow I will have what I need to get any vaccinations. I know I'll need tetorifice/diptheria, and I think that should be it. Does anyone know the cheapest place to go without insurance? I thought Medicaid would cover it, but I can't find anywhere they will, not even the Dept of Health.

So sorry to hear your having such a difficult time. SOOO unprofessional of them. Check out doctors365 they were super nice and not to expensive. They have prices listed on their website they do specials for students, you see those prices listed near the bottom of the prices page.

I did everything at Solantic Clinic. They're kind of messed up, but everything came up good in the end. They did my titers, physical, and tetorifice shot for $300. After the results came in, the only one I needed was the Hepatitis B, which I took at the Dept of Health for only $47. I don't know if you can do everything at the Dept of Health. Anyway, you'll still save a lot taking only the shots at the Dept of Health; they're a lot cheaper than anywhere else.

I turned in my docs last Monday. For the medical thing, the only one that the school needs original is the 4 pages medical form filled by the physician. The lab results are copies attached to this form.

The lady at Central will give you a paper back that confirms you handle the docs and shows the dates your physical and certificates are due to.

One more thing, they'll take the original of the drug screen receipt.

That is it. Hope it helps.

attention!!! regarding students that used ceufast.

we must complete hepatitis c course to complete the requirements for hepatitis ceu. the course is 2 hrs.

Has anyone received financial aid/loans yet?

Has anyone received financial aid/loans yet?

Well, I've gotten my financial aid, and my husband has his aid and loan for the term we are currently in right now. But we won't get our aid or loans for January until around the 3rd week of classes. However, you can go to the bookstore beginning December 6 and use your financial aid for textbooks-they just have it on file, and need your student ID and a printout of your schedule (sometimes they don't even need the printout of your schedule). And remember from Orientation, if at the bookstore, the total is more than $700, you need to go to Health Sciences I think (I could be wrong, don't quote me on where you need to go for sure, could be Cashier's) and ask for an Advance because you're a Nursing student buying textbooks and to take it from your financial aid. And it's no problem.

Hope that helps! It takes forever to get our aid:( It sucks.

BUT- if you have the money available, I'd STRONGLY recommend buying your textbooks online. MUCH cheaper. And come January, you'll be given your financial aid. (All that money you would have used on books is sent to you in the same check as your aid, because it's part of your aid.)

I use websites like amazon.com (where you can see used books) and www4.bigwords.com (I LOVE that site!!) which, when you use ISBN (or title, but isbn is most accurate) will take tons of websites and look for your textbook and find used, new, and compare prices and the condition they are in.

I got all of my textbooks for hundreds of dollars cheaper than I would have through the bookstore.

I found Fundamentals of Nursing straight through Amazon, though. It was new, I wanted that one new for some dumb reason, lol. Maybe because I know I'll be using it a LOT and so I don't like the idea of someone else having used it so much? Haha. It was around 50 something new and free shipping!

I just found out today my son GOT IN TO BROWARD'S DAYCARE!!!!!!!!! :D He starts December 20! :) Yay! We're going to start him half-time, to ease him into it. I've never heard anything about their daycare, and in fact haven't even seen it; I know they offer tours, so my husband and I are going to go on one (even though we're pretty much stuck with sending our son there no matter how it is).

Does anyone have any reviews on their daycare???

Just got my tetorifice/diptheria immunization done today. My doctors office is CLOSED TODAY because it's the day after Thanksgiving, I guess. Meaning the next day I can even get my physical and lab results is Monday, meaning I can probably get immunizations Tuesday, which is the DAY before everything is due.

I'm so livid. I'm angry beyond belief. I'm thinking lawsuits here. My husband and I told them from day One the date we needed to have everything turned in, including immunizations. UGH!!!!!!! We're definitely filing complaints to whoever we can who is the highest up the chain we can find. And switching pcps immediately after this debacle. Don't anyone ever go to Doctor's Health Group off of 70th street in Plantation. EVER.

In other news, I'm also incredibly upset at the makers of Invisalign, but that's a whole other thread and forum I'm sure, if it's even appropriate for allnurses. Haha. Just a whole list of things I'm upset about at the moment. Bottom line there is they had me waste 12 weeks wearing trays that weren't effective until I got trays that were; and the original amount of trays were 10 top, 8 bottom; 4 weeks later they changed it to 16 top, 10 bottom (because I had to get re-molded, so that's what the re-mold told them I guess-had to get re-molded because my original trays were loose on top. Hence why for 12 weeks they weren't effective. They knew about it for 8 weeks and I waited 4 for new trays but was only supposed to wait 2; also the trays I was wearing for those 4 weeks of waiting were supposed to have attachments but my teeth didn't because they'd been taken off by my dentist when making new molds, so the trays were very loose for those 4 weeks of waiting.) Okay that's my un related rant.

Anyway, hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!

They took my height at the dr office where they gave me the immunization just because I guess, and hey, guess I'm 5'5 after all! Yayyyyyyy hehehe. Lol.

BTW- that tetorifice/diptheria shot HURT, man. Did anyone else's hurt pretty bad?? The lady, lol, she offered to give it in my butt instead. I now see why. I have no fat on my arm. The shot went in like an inch. I mean, many things hurt worse, don't get me wrong.
