Hi again....

Someone was asking about Prf. K for Process and just wanted to input that she was amazing. I had her for Process I, II theory and clinical, and GIGU clinical. She really gave me a wonderful foundation. If you get her for clinical shes not easy (no one is easy) but I honestly can say I would not have wanted it any other way because I learned so much. You may have days where you are like "oh my....is this really what I want to do?" but if you stick it out it gets better. :)

Also, someone was asking about wearing different scrub bottoms than whats in the bookstore. I have seen MANY students wear different ones as long as they are the same exact color and have no problem at all. However, I have heard that a few instructors have a problem with it so I would recommend wearing the ones in the bookstore at the beginning to get a feel for what you instructor is like. just my opinion....

Good Luck!!!

Took my BLS class today and got my card! Yay!!!!! :)

I'm getting my physical done on Monday with my pcp...they said something when making an appt about him having to order the TB test? So I hope that doesn't delay anything-not even sure what that means. So happy to be getting everything done with, though. My husband also has his physical Monday.

Did my background check, but still need to go to the fingerprinting and criminal background check place and get that all done.

Also need to be drug tested- anyone know of a Quest closest to Central campus? Is the drug test urine or blood?

My husband has started his CEUs on CEUFAST, but...when you add up the hours with everything, they equal one more hour than the ones at Broward, because of the Infection Control and Barrier Precautions (or whatever that class is called lol) class... I think it's too many hours? Some class we need instead of OSHA. All of the other classes are 2 hours, the same as Broward's are-but that one-I think added with another? Or something? Equals an extra. I don't know if this is a problem....

For those that were asking about Prof. K, she gets alot of scrutiny, but I think that without her backbone in the beginning of the program, I would not have been prepared for the rest of the journey. She is very serious about her job, and she is not going to baby anyone, its more like a "tough love" type of thing. After all you have peoples lives in your hands. I had her for Process 1 and 2 and had the pleasure of having her for Trends at the end. Process 2 she is VERYYY tough, Process 2 she eases up, and by that point you already have your study habits in check. No matter who you have for Process, its going to be tough. Just to give you an idea, you have to read over 12 chapters for the first exam, and you have like 2 weeks to do that, plus juggle your marriage, kid, job, family, life. So just be prepared to be stressed out but in the end it will all pay off, and BC is well respected for graduating excellent nurses. Annnddddd you will have a 98% chance at passing your nclex. which is fantastic. They will prepare you. Just do what you have to do (study and read), stay to yourself, Dont get snappy with the professors, and eliminate the people around you that are negative.

Oh yea I forgot, If you need your physicals done, go to Walgreens they have this "Take Care Clinic" and they do them there, you can get your PPD, Physical, done CHEAP!! I paid like 50 for both. Not sure about titers but Im sure you can call and find out.

I just re-checked my schedule, because I'm going to e-mail Professor K, our Process I teacher, and see if I can get our Syllabus by any chance, to see what we should start studying for the first test- I want to get the book early and study early. Actually, I want to get a few books early- Fundamentals by Perry-Potter, Dosage Calculations, Fundamentals Success, and our Pharm books. If anyone from a past semester has her syllabus and can PM it to me, that'd be great!

But what I realized, and does anyone else realize this, our first class day is NOT January 6th, but January 7th! So Orientation is the day BEFORE classes start. I really thought classes started on the 6th- did they change it to the seventh or something? Or have I just...misread it the whole time? Lol.

It still sucks that Orientation is only a day before classes-but at least it's not the same day. Then we'd all be very tired as WELL as confused.

I did my ceus on ceufast. Everything adds up accordingly. I think...lol....n e ways, if it's over the amount that is required, its ok. I took the infection control & barriers precautions to meet the requirement for OSHA. The TB has 2 hrs and OSHA/Hepatitis are 4 hrs, making it 6 hrs total. This is the number for the TB/OSHA/Hepatitis (6 hrs) requirement. I think everything will be fine, better to have more than less.

Also the TB test is the tuberculosis test (checking to see if u have TB or have been exposed to TB). After it is given, u have to return 48 hrs to the doctor to get the results read. And that will take no more than 1 min to read. Actually they can read it at the window/front desk, u don't need the doctor to read it. But may end up seeing the doctor to complete the physical.

Hey alisonelizabeth what brand is your scrub top?

It's from the school... we HAVE to get them from the school because they need to bear their little patch. Hence why I got mine early, because I'm getting them altered to fit me better. :)

Yea I know we do have to get them from the school. I was just wondering because I went to south (I live closer to there) to get a top and I was wondering if they all use the same brand. They carried cheerokee brand.

Yep, same brand. :( Lol does it also look like a bag on you? Maybe we should all not alter them and form a group of Bag Ladies. (Definitely just kidding.)

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out a place to go for pants. Not actively trying to figure out, lol, I'll admit I haven't actually looked up anywhere yet. I wonder how hard it'll be finding an exact match of color in our size pants. And I wonder if there are any rules about the pants..because there are just such specific rules about everrryyything-shoes, even.

There's this place I've passed by called 'Mental Ward'- i *think* it might be a medical clothing store. Could be something else entirely, though, but I think I read that it was.
