Broward College August 2011

Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?

Hey has anyone taken the Hesi already?

Okay, here is another question for someone who is already in the program. How many BC Scrub sets should we purchase? Is two enough? I am trying to buy as much as I can before I quit my job. Thank you!! :yeah:

I started in January and I would say 2 sets.

I took the HESI and found the test pretty straight forward. I recommend getting the evolve Hesi study guide. It really helps :) also review your anatomy notes.:D

Just a couple more week till we have to turn in our applications! How is everyone doing? I just took the Hesi and my overall score was 89.5% I was a little bummed becaused my GPA is only a 3.0 and I was hoping for higher HESI score. I wanted to retake the HESI but I heard that there is a 30 day wait before I can retake it and that would put me after the 5/15 deadline. Guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed. Does anyone know how many points I'll get for my 3.0? Thanks

It's not just your GPA that matters - it's also your pre-requisites. Your HESI doesn't count towards points.

:rolleyes: I can't believe we are so close!! I am just waiting for the grades to get posted to start checking on my application. I know they check your GPA on your pre-req's and also your HESI scores combined. You also get an extra point if you are a Broward resident :) Good luck girl! I am getting ready to start Microbiology. I was finally able to get the class and lab I wanted yesterday!!! I am one happy camper :D:D

So I called the health science department and asked them how many points I would receive for my 3.0 pre-req gpa and I was told 6 I will also get 1 pt for being a broward resident. So I am not feeling too confident about being accepted with 7 pts and an 89.5 on the HESI.

I guess it will depend on how many applicants they get for the fall term. If you don't get in this time around keep taking your HESI until you get a really high score. I know of other folks that have gotten in with your GPA and a high HESI score :) Good luck!

Thanks sunshinegirlFlorida I am going to stay positive and like you said if it doesnt work out for fall I'll apply for another term and retake the HESI.

the application deadline is so close but still seems so far away. Did everyone take the HESI already? The threads been quiet but I bet it will be picking up soon. I'm just waiting on grades to post so that I can turn in my application. Cant wait!!!!

The boards have been crazy quiet. Maybe we are the only ones applying LOL! I took the HESI 4 months ago. I turned in my application about a month ago and of course it is not completed until the grades post for this semester. Now I have a week to relax before starting the 6 week Microbiology class. I can't wait to have that done and over with!! :yeah:
