Hi guys, is anyone else working towards starting the nursing program at BC in August 2011? I am working on my last pre-reqs this semester (spring 11) and then apply and hopefully get accepted for the fall semester. I just took and passed the hesi exam last night and that is one big load off my back. I also started my hep shots since it takes 3 rounds of shots and a total of 6 months to be fully immunized. I want to have all of my ducks in order to start the program. I am undecided whether to go to south or central campus. Any advice?
Some campuses require it. North doesn't. You can use it in the lab when you go to practice on your own time if you don't wear your uniform, but it's not a requirement.
Thanks for this update....I really don't want to make any unnessecary purchases. If its not needed I won't buy. It's called " A student on a budget".
Your teachers will tell you what you need uniform-wise on the first day of class. Just hold off on buying the shirt until then. But some people like having it even if it's not required. If you're going to practice in the lab on your own time you either have to go in scrubs or wear the polo. Some people prefer the polo so they can just throw on a different shirt after and not carry an entire change of clothes.

So in essence we do need the polo? Is that what ur saying? R u in the program already?
I'm saying your teachers will tell you what you need. Yes, I'm in the program, but every campus is different. Just go to the orientation, listen to what they tell you to buy and you'll know what to buy. They give you enough time to get what you need.
What campus do u go to? How is it so far?
I go to North. It's hard, but do-able. Listen to their warnings about your first test score. A lot of people didn't and we had more than half our class fail as a result (but we also started in summer so our days were longer and our semester shorter). Keep up with the reading, study at least ten hours a week on top of that and you'll get through it. Just go in knowing it's much harder than your pre-reqs (even micro) and treat it that way.
