Broward College August 2010

Published

Hello!!! Just wondering if anyone else has applied for August 2010 yet? :)

Thank you :-)

I already did the calculations... getting an A would boost me from 7 pts to 12! (guess u can see why im so eager to take the second chemistry!!):w00t:

you do realize that 1040 is more advanced and more difficult content wise than 1032. Just curious as to why you are not repeating 1032? Is it because you revceived what is considered a passing grade of a C in 1032 and they will not let you?

hey,

I saw you were going to take chm1040 to replace your chm1032 grade. I would double check if that class is ok b/c chm1040 is and expanded sequence of chm1045. So technical its not the entrie chemistry class, its only 1 of the 2 needed to fulfil the chm1045 requirments. Hope everything works out, good luck!

its not necessarily more advanced its just more general chemistry.. .. where in CHM 1032 the chemistry in that class was more directed towards health professions. 1040 covers it all even what was learned in 1032 so theres no reason y i shudnt b able to use that course instead. i am not repeating CHM 1032 becuz broward coll. does not allow it since i got a c the first time. if i had gotten a d or an f then i could repeat it. or i could go to keiser and take it again (my advisor told me this).. but dont wana bother with the applying process and expenses.

i just looked at the course description... and it says..

Topics covered include: chemical measurements, stoichiometry, atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonding, inorganic compounds, nomenclature, formula writing

this is the course my advisor told me to take.. but i will double check. would 1045 be a better choice?

I've taken chm1040 and chm1041 before i change my major to nursing, you do learn the same materal (except chm1032 goes in to biochm and organic), its just that its one class broken up into two classes. They gave this opition so people who have not taken chm in a long time can take it in a slower pace.

I would ask someone in the nursing department which class is better to take. Chm 1045 would be more helpfull (since your not taking the second part)but if they say you can take chm1040 i would because general chm goes into way more detail then what is taught in chm1032 and with chm1045 i think you have to take the lab, where chm1040 has no lab

Best of Luck

thank you wolanskia for your helpful answers... i really hope i can take 1040 cuz there are no more spots left in 1045 for the summer and im already registered for that class. i will look into it though... thanks = )

so i finally got the answer ive been looking for! i emailed health sci. admissions about my little dilemna via broward's online chat form and this is the response i received:

"thank you for your interest in the registered nursing (rn) program at broward college.

changes can be made during the application period only. once the application period closes, you cannot make any changes. we will substitute any three (3) credit chemistry for chm1032.

we wish you continued success in your educational goals."

this was a big relief. so looking forward to taking my new chm class in 2 weeks and [hopefully] acing it.

I wouldnt advise you to take 1045 if you found 1032 to be difficult. CHM 1032 breezes through the topics (I went up to Organic)

I am taking 1040. And i didnt find 1032 difficult my professor just sucked!.. he had the lowest ratings on rate my professor... but i just HAD to take him (it was the only class left n i didnt know any better). I got an A on my first test in the class, a B on the next test... then it all went downhill from there. I pretty much had to teach myself the whole time.

I think if i just focus and study i can get an A. any class that ive ever repeated (2 classes) ive ended up getting an A the second time. So im pretty confident.

oohok im not familiar with 1040 but if your not doing pre med i would stay away from 1045 and up lol !! Good Luck !!

lol okay thank for the heads-up

Good luck, laideeJ!!!! That's awesome that you can swap out your grades :-)
