Broward College August 2010

Published

Hello!!! Just wondering if anyone else has applied for August 2010 yet? :)

i dont know for sure.. but i heard once you are in the program it takes 5 semesters to complete it.

Studying for my HESI as I write this. I'm most worried about A & P because there is so much material and they only ask 25 questions. Does anyone have any advice on what to focus on for this section? Any hints would be greatly appreciated!! :)

i would say if you know the basic functions of a&p your good. just look over them to refresh your mind and reread the systems that your weak at. So im weak at the endocrine system but familiar with the hormones. if you paid attention in class then your good.

also, the rn program at broward is 18 months

I used the study guide at the site listed below to assist me in studying.... It def covers everything, and helped so much! I hope it helps you, as well...

I'm in the program now. It is 5 semesters long, and one of them is only half a semester (you get the last half of your first summer semester off, unless you begin in the summer, then it's the next summer). Depending on when you begin, the program will last 19-21 months.

Sunray, which campus do you attend?

How are you liking it so far? I'm trying to decide on which campus to attend if I get in... It's between South and North... Def. live closer to South, but I've heard North is the best. Any insight? Thank you :-)

I like it so far. I think the teacher who teaches process 1 and 2 did a pretty good job, although I think it's all a matter of opinion. There will be people you talk to at every campus that hate it and people that like it. I've only really heard second hand about the other campuses, and from what I heard, it seems like the instructors are more difficult. I have a friend in the online program @ central, but its not like the face-to-face program, and it is harder for sure. There was one girl that I knew in the program @ central but I don't keep in contact with her. All I know is that she failed both clinical and lecture and she is out of the program. I have heard one good thing about central from my friend who has a friend there, but thats it. I haven't really heard anything about south except that it was hard, but the problem is no one really explains WHY its hard. Honestly, its going to be hard everywhere. It all depends on the person. My class seemed to do very well with the north professor but for some reason it seems the class after us isn't doing so well. The scores I have heard that are coming from their class are not good. So, all that to say no matter where you go, its going to be tough, especially at first. But it got better for me as time went on. Not easier but I've adjusted to it. I will say, and I don't advise others to follow me, but I study a lot less than I did at first. I've learned what my boundaries are and what I'm comfortable with. If you live closer to south, that drive is going to be a trek. You can go to south and use the extra time to study maybe? I live near north and I can't imagine having to drive all the way to south.

I've also heard that North is the best program, although I live closer to Central. Still studying for my HESI. The next two weeks are brutal; anatomy final, practical lab final and my HESI! Good thing I work best under pressure!

I just got my official HESI scores, when I took the exam there were 5 extra questions for each section. For example the A&P had 30 questions but they only scored 25 of them. I missed 1 but I still got 100%. That was the way it was for each section. So you can breathe a little easier knowing that you can miss a bit more than 6 on A&P and still get a 75% or above.

Mizstriss, The A&P was really pretty general, there were a couple of in depth questions but it is all multiple choice and easy to narrow down. If you have the study guide look for the Hesi Hints throughout the book, they were helpful in knowing what to study. Honestly, I can't remember exact questions that were on there because it was so much information in such a short time. Also they make you check off a confidentiality agreement. Lots of luck to you, I'm sure you will do well :)

may 15 is the deadline for fall 2010 class. my question is how long did applicants for the previous terms have entered had to wait to see if they were accepted or not? a week a month? what?

Also congrats to ALB for their good scores
