Broward College August 2010

Published

Hello!!! Just wondering if anyone else has applied for August 2010 yet? :)

I wonder if they are going to go through each application by hand this time and look at the hesi scores. If the applications are only evaluated based on points (computerized), then our hesi results don't matter one bit. That stinks for the people who did well on the hesi. I'm going to stop by Health Science again and ask my friend in there if they have any new information.

BTW, ALB...my brain is about to explode from micro!!:uhoh3:

Good luck with Micro...I felt the same at the beginning...all I can tell you is that for me it got WAY better! :) Please if anyone else gets any info please let us know. I sent an email hoping I get a response. But I think if the HESI is optional the scores won't even be looked at. And I stressed soooo much about that test!

Specializes in ED.

I felt like that too with Micro.....and then I started nursing school and realized I had it easier!! Nursing school is like Micro on crack! LOL

I spoke with someone in the nursing dept this morning... She said that she was told to tell everyone to take the hesi, and turn it in regardless of their scores. I also asked if those of us that passed and turned apps in before the original date would still be hearing soon, and she said yea... Soooooo who knows...

Did she say if the HESI scores would count for anything?

No, she was like, "Your guess is as good as mine". :-/

Nice. I wonder if BC has any idea how bad this makes them look. Their program already had a bad reputation for being abusive and disorganized. Now their admissions process is a joke. A really bad, unfunny joke.

I was told the same thing. I called this morning. The lady told me that you still have to take the HESI, but the scores don't matter.I think that they are telling everyone to take it, because they don't want to look so bad.

I stopped by health science admissions at the central campus this morning. The person I spoke to said that if you applied before May 15th, start checking email tomorrow.

I think that they are telling everyone to take it, because they don't want to look so bad.

And so they don't have to refund anyone's money back.

Exactly...I'm heading over there today to turn in my app. I held on to it because I figured I didn't want to drive myself crazy with the waiting game like I did last time... So now I am going to just turn it in..Hopefully this time around i'll get in.

I also spoke with someone today in Health Science admissions. She said that the HESI is required, but the scores have NO bearing on admission. Admission will be based only on points. I asked what the point of the hesi was and she said that they will be using for informational purposes only once we are in the program...like a placement test (which makes no sense.) Anyway, she said that if your application was in by May 15 you will hear within the 30 days. She said they are honoring that deadline. She said the remainder of people will hear after the second deadline. So, I guess that means there are two rounds of admissions. Well, that's all that I've heard today. I'm going to take a nap, lol!:yawn:
