U.S.A. Florida

Published

Did anyone already turn in there applications for Fall 2009 @ B.C.? because I am turning mine in next week before the deadline and now I have to wait AGAIN and keep continually looking at my e-mail and the myBC account for the Limited Access Program everyday hopefully I get in THIS TIME being my 3rd time :yeah:

hey leavingteaching.....

at north, on the first day, is that when they tell you that you need to have white sneakers? i know that we need to have them, but i don't think a lot of other people do, and they didn't mention it at orientation.

central has another orientation before the first day of class, but south and north have it the first day.

yes, they will go over the dress code on the first clinical day. on north campus, you're not expected to where the uniform until the second week.

leavingteaching, thank you so much for that information. do we have to wait to be told to purchase the uniform or can we go to the bookstore and buy it? are we suppose to purchase a orientation package from the bookstore as well? how do we know what type of stestescope to purchase?

you can buy it from the bookstore whenever you want. just be sure to buy the nursing scrub top. there are other programs who have the same uniforms. so, double check your emblem. most people by 2 uniforms. you can check in the bookstore and see if there is a packet for nursing process i. i think this instructor puts everything online. buy whatever stethoscope you want. most students buy the cheap one from the bookstore. be sure to put your name on it in permanent marker.

How do we know what shots to get??? Also, do we have to do exactly all ceu certifications ???? Because we only require a certain amount of hours.

The shots are listed in your medical exam packet on pg 2 i belive. The doc office should know how to fill it out. The num of hours for your ceus may vary if you take them at ceufast.com namely the tb/osha/hep set. I belive if you take them at ceufast they total 8hrs and is acceptable for the program.

Does anyone if the cae's certification must have a license number on it? Because all of mine are blank. I saw a couple of people who had numbers on it.

Where are your CEU's from?

Where are your CEU's from?

I got them at broward college.

If you got them at Broward, then I wouldn't worry about the license number being on it. They need it mostly just from places they aren't familiar with, to ensure the licenses can be accepted. If its from Broward, its accepted. You can always call them to double check if you want.

How long is the program length? is it 16 months like Miami Dade College? So if I start in spring 2010, then i will graduate at the end of spring 2011?

Hey guys, Walmart has a "walk-in clinic" in Coral Springs that have all the shots. And they also do the phisical for $40.00!!

Now, do we need 3x Hep. and 2x MMR ?

Mral-

The program is 5 semesters long. If you start in Jan 2010, you will graduate Aug 2011. (Jan-May 2010, May-Aug 2010, Aug-Dec 2010, Jan-May 2011, May-Aug 2011).

Danisax-

I just went there when I was sick with the Flu, and then when I came back a few days later and found out I had Pneumonia. The NP I saw there is really nice. I talked to her a little bit about liking being an NP and all. She said she started out as an LPN, and did her RN at Broward. They're pretty cheap. I had my varicella titer there, but it was a few months back and at the time, they were part of Broward Health, but its since been sold to some doctors. Still just as cheap. I didn't realize the physicals were that cheap though!! Thanks for the heads up!

Can you wear the white sneakers that you slip on and have no back, but still look like sneakers in the front? Or do they have to wear a back? Also, can you wear Crocs like some of the nurses do, in white of course? What about the other nursing type shoes they sell at uniform stores, as long as they're white?
