Broward College applicants for Fall 2009

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Did anyone already turn in there applications for Fall 2009 @ B.C.? because I am turning mine in next week before the deadline and now I have to wait AGAIN and keep continually looking at my e-mail and the myBC account for the Limited Access Program everyday hopefully I get in THIS TIME being my 3rd time :yeah:

Does anyone know what books are included in the Elsevier bundle? And how much the bundle is?

I wonder if you were "deferred" because of the e-mail issue? Did you ever get yours and respond to it? I had a friend who had her e-mail forwarded to a Yahoo acct, all e-mails got forwarded except her acceptance letter. She finally found out, but it was too late, they deferred her until the next class. As for your situation, if you never received the e-mail and they are aware of the problem, hopefully they will adjust the status.

What do you mean "they deferred her until the next class" and I called Health science admission this morning. I found out that Twana is on vacation and the Dean of Nursing is not working today. The lady that I talked to just said to bring the copy of acceptance email and the reply email to the orientation. She also made a comment that the if you are deferred now it will change after you go the orientation for nursing. This comment sound really good, but the only thing is that I hope they wont reject me at the door when I walk in the orientation. By then, it would be too late.

Leavingteaching or sunray, Can you tell me the exact title and author of the book you recommend that I should look into before the nursing program begins because I was at the bookstore today and didnot find anything? :uhoh21:

Perry and Potter are the authors. The 2 books that are absolutely needed are the Clinical Skills and Fundamentals book. Visit the north campus process teacher's website for info and a booklist. DO NOT BUY EVERY BOOK ON THE LIST. www.broward.edu/~gbrickma

You may want to call the bookstore. The bundle changes from semester to semester. When you find out post the contents and cost here and I'll tell you what you need from the bundle.

Does anyone know if Twana has a secretary?

No test is required.

The current edition is 7th for Fundamentals and 6th for the Skills Book. However, there are many people who are successful without the current edition. Although, the nursing staff may tell you different.

No admissions test currently. If you're in, you're in. However, shortly after you begin the program you will take the HESI and the TABE test. Although these test do not affect your status in the program, if you are unsuccessful in a course, they may hold the scores against you and require you to take remediation prior to being readmitted.

so after you are admitted in the program, they will administer a hesi and a teas jsut to see how well your academic is.. however, it does not affect your admittance in the program??? are you saying this :-(

also, arent they thinking about administering the hesi test before as an entry exam.. but its not implimented as yet.??? if yes, that means they are just reversing the test and making you take it before as an admission test.

i did a provider search for a ceu's on cebroker's site and they came up, so i am assuming its ok.

there was another site posted on here that bc gives you the info for at the orientation called ceufast.com

you can always just wait for the orientation and ask them there if they've ever heard of them. i remember someone who was starting the program back in jan had given me their name, but i couldn't remember it until you asked about them.

sunray, is medical errors, the same as medical errors prevention?

i took medical errors on ceufast.com...i have not paid yet, however i passed, but i wanted to know first.

also do we get any extra points for having all of the certificate?

i ahve not taking the health core class yet.. but i have all the certs.. well almost, i need my cpr, which i think nova was the cheapest so far..

oh yea, if i dont have my cpr will it be cheaper to just take it with the health corem or should i just take the cpr and get it out the way..

you take the tabe reading section to determine your reading level. if you score below 12th grade, you have to retake the test if you fail and course and need to be retracked. the tabe test is the same test used to earn a ged.

the hesi may be used in the future for admissions. i believe they're administering this exam to determine how it will be used for admissions in the future. not sure, how it affects you if you are unsuccessful.

Hey, anyone who is an alternate IS TO attend orientation, so if you haven't received an email yet, you need to contact the health science dept and find out when you need to go. My friend who is an alternate just got her info. There is still a lot of problems with the email system. Friends, as well as, my micro professor are having issues with it.

Off topic, I have been in bed for literally a week, sick....fever, chills, headache, cough, etc. Went to see an NP on Friday and she said it was probably the Flu. At the time, my lungs were clear. My cough has gotten worse since then, and I wasn't going to go back to the NP except I wanted a stronger cough medicine. So I went today, and she checked my lungs again, and said my right lung had diminished sounds, which meant there could be fluid there. Went to have a chest xray done, and it came back that I have pneumonia. Bleh. I also had my micro midterm today that I wasn't able to study for, so I hope I did ok. I had an A in the class so far, so we'll see. I ended up skipping my Micro lecture class, which is after my lab, to go see the NP, which I'm glad I did. Anyway, just wanted to vent.
