Broward August 2015

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site, but I've seen other threads for other semesters for Broward College. I didn't find one for August 2015. I figured this would be a good place to share each other's excitement to (HOPEFULLY!) start the program in August. Let's all support each other on this journey! :)

How was the hesi in your opinion as far as anatomy ?

The anatomy section is the hardest part. I say hardest because they can ask you a wide range of questions. You never really know what your going to get. Everything else is pretty standard

Yeah it is the hardest one . The questions are pretty general and straight foward but it's a lot of stuff to know . I only used the hesi a2 admissions book by elsevier to study plus some practice tests but still almost half of the questions they asked weren't what I studied and I had to guess like different stuff about the cell and about bones . Of course you learn it all back a few semesters ago so that helped I think.

Hey there! Hope everyone is doing great and getting their apps ready for August! I applied and got accepted for May but deferred for August..so for the time being I am finishing up MicroBio and Psychology.

Who is looking to join North Campus?!

😇

I just took my HESI today and passed! But when I went to go submit my application..since it was past 4pm they were closed so I left it in the drop box. Were we supposed to staple the HESI results to our application? I tried asking the lady there but she said she didn't know anything about it. I really wanted to turn it in, in person but they apparently wont be open tomorrow and wont be back till Monday

Yes, you're to staple your hesi with the application. I hope we all get in :)!

I was accepted for May but deferred till August also, I am looking to go to the North Campus. I will make double sure that all blocks are removed this time so I am not left out in the cold. I have to start taking my classes including my CPR and getting my shots soon. I could have started the nursing program in January but had to take the HCP class and now it is not required. Oh, well, good for the future students.

I turned in my Hesi scores today and now my applications in review. I'm still nervous because does anyone know anything about the application process? I asked the lady that put in my scores what she thinks my chances are of making it into the august program; she told me that basically whomever they select for the nursing program in august will be random provided that they meet the minimum requirements. So it doesn't matter your GPA or Hesi score or when you turn in your application, it's all just chance.

That's odd. Who did you talk to? I've called and spoken to a few people at central in person and they all said that your GPA does matter. They said the HESI doesn't really matter (aside from meeting the minimum) unless they need it for a tie-breaker between you and someone with the same GPA for a spot... I keep hearing so many different things. I can't imagine they would be allowed to do it randomly though. That would open the door for a lot of complaints from students... This whole thing is crazy. I feel like there is never enough information posted and everyone you talk to will tell you something different. I just want my answer already...

Anyone here planning on going to Central?

I agree that it can't just be random. What i am gathering is they take in a large number but since the requirements and such change so frequently it's hard to gauge. It just leads to lots of anxiety for us. I am hoping to be at crntral campus though and I hope we hear next week! I need to plan!

I am hoping to attend North Campus too

The lady I talked to said, "I can't say what your chances are of getting in because GPA doesn't matter". She could maybe have not known what she was talking about? she was in health science admissions upstairs at north campus. But that led me to believe it's random because that and the Hesi scores are their only basis for placement in the program. Hopefully I get into North Campus that would be the most convenient for me but i'd take anything I can get as long as it's in August .
