Brookhaven Nursing Spring 2016

U.S.A. Texas

This forum is for anyone applying to the nursing program at Brookhaven College for the spring 2016 semester.

I will be applying for the spring semester and would like to meets others who are applying as well.

It is paper test on scantrons. This session is over you will have to wait for the next one. On class days he does answer group questions for an hour but after test is in process he will work with students individually.

Do you know when the next one will be?

It's very self taught. The book had a lot of wrong answers as well. I missed the first two classes/testing dates, then came to the third one and made a 99 on my first attempt. If you take the time to do the practice problems and teach yourself through the book then do the two practice tests he gives you, you will be fine. A lot of it is conversions. The next "workshop" is not till December. It's once per semester

One more week to get apps in. Who still needs to turn theirs in? Anybody turn their app in this week and ask about the point range so far?

Turning in my app on Friday !!!!!!

I just turned my app in yesterday. I didn't even think to ask about points. I applied with 31.4 points, hopefully that will be enough. I am worried about keeping my job while I am in school. It is overnight and isn't stressful and I can study while I am there. I think clinical days might be tricky. I live in Denton and get off at 6 a.m. Not sure when I will sleep, but from what I have heard no one sleeps in nursing school anyway.

i am applying too

I plan to keep my job during school as well, ideally full time. From what I've heard, it is hard BUT it is possible. I think the key is having a employer who is flexible because it sounds like nursing school schedules change alot and we just have to be available :arghh:

31.4 points is awesome. You'll definitely be accepted!

I plan to keep my job but will probably not work full time. I only do 3 shifts a week as it is, but dropping to PRN would allow me to pick and choose when and where I want to work. I can still pick up full time hours some weeks, but won't be obligated to if I have school stuff that would make it hard.

I've been wondering about points too... You guys with 29 & 31 make me nervous. Makes me wish I had taken Micro and pharm earlier. Oh well, nothing I can do but wait and see for now (that plus hope & pray while I'm waiting). PD82, if you think to ask while you're there, let us know! :)

Thankfully mine is flexible, hopefully yours is too!

Don't be nervous!! Even with 31 points, I still have to get through the interview. That's 10 points. I am terrible at interviews and that is the part that worries me. You should be fine with what you have, there are still more points out there to get!

I was thinking of going PRN, but I need the full time hours. I may have to make some tough choices, it is only for 16 months after all.

Turned in my application with 24.14 points!!!

The lady there was nice and made sure my app was complete. She didn't give a number on the points so far, but she did say this next few days is when they get the most applications- all those last min people like myself ;)

I asked if there were a lot of applications so far and she said about a hundred.

Good luck to us all!!!!
