Brookhaven Nursing Program 2012 Class

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone, I would like to know who's applying to Brookhaven this fall for their Spring 2012 class, if so how many with how many points? I will be taking my last support course this summer, which is my elective (PHIL 1304). I am so excited, upon completion of this course I will have 32.39 points. I can't tell how nervous I am, I hope this is enough. Any advice from previous or current nursing program is welcomed.

More encouragement for us: since they'll interview 50 people and accept 40, 80% of the people who get an interview will be accepted! (I think these comments are more to calm my own nerves than anything else haha)

I can agree with you. I'm just ready for Tuesday, and after that, any day after Thursday. That would be great if they could let us know our acceptance status by Friday. And just imagine, had we applied a semester early, we would've all been accepted without having to do interviews in the group of 60.

By the way, thanks for the link.

True... we'd be shoe ins! I couldn't have done that though, I took one pre-req (Chem) and 7 points' worth of support courses over the summer. My advisor told me not even to try that, to just wait for Fall 2012. So really applying this semester was not easy for me!

I was in similar predicament myself, I needed like 4 more support courses (Pharm, A&P II, and Micro). I took my elective over the summer. Are you taking any classes now? I'm currently taking 5, yes, go figure.

Nope, unfortunately I'm spending this semester twiddling my thumbs & waiting to hear if I got in. I wanted to take some courses toward my BSN, but I really can't afford it! I may take some flex term courses depending on how my financial aid pans out. What are you taking right now?

Hey Everyone!!! I too, am nervous!!!! I hardly got any sleep at all last night because I was trying to think of the perfect response to the question.."What is your greatest weakness?"!!! It was bugging me all night long!!! I'm not saying I do not have weaknesses (we all do) but I wanted to think of the perfect answer besides "I used to procrastinate, blah, blah blah"!!!! UGH!!!! My interview is on Thursday @ 10am. I wanted to pick a morning time slot. Is anything bothering any of you specifically??

Believe it or not, I'm taking A&P II over again for a better grade (I made a "C" previously). Had I known I would get this close to getting in I wouldn't have bothered. Besides this, I'm also taking Government, History, Nutrition, and College algebra (so I would be able to apply to other schools.

Good call. Even if it won't do you any good with applying, bringing up the C will help your GPA and be a great refresher to keep your mind sharp until January! I'm trying to make myself do this with Patho & Pharm so I can have all that info accessible in my mind when classes start, but it's difficult when there aren't any actual classes  I also applied to Baylor to start in May so I'll need to take some of those in the Spring semester if I end up there instead of Brookhaven (very doubtful though!).

SugarMagnolia, when do you find out about Baylor?

I've been told a couple of different things, most recently that they were hoping to let us know by Thanksgiving. Honestly, if I get into Brookhaven I'll be going there - I really can't afford Baylor's program... I'd need to take out tens of thousands in loans, plus I have another degree that I have some loans left over from (which thankfully I can defer during school, but still!) So most of my eggs are in the Brookhaven basket at the moment.

I can totally understand where you're coming from in regards to costs...Brookhaven's program is more manageable and cost s much less. And besides, it's a great school!!
