Brookhaven Nursing Program 2012 Class

Published

Hello everyone, I would like to know who's applying to Brookhaven this fall for their Spring 2012 class, if so how many with how many points? I will be taking my last support course this summer, which is my elective (PHIL 1304). I am so excited, upon completion of this course I will have 32.39 points. I can't tell how nervous I am, I hope this is enough. Any advice from previous or current nursing program is welcomed.

I really like the two pocket scrubs with the v neck. I found some Cherokee Flexibles pants in Hunter Green that looked really comfortable with a fold down waist on MedicalScrubscollection.com

Sugarmagnolia018, did AC send you the booklist?

No, she told me that she needed to get everyone confirmed before sending out any more info. Hopefully it'll be soon! And I'm definitely gonna look at those cherokee flexibles! Looks like allheart.com has some good deals! Dickies are on sale!

the Landau scrubs look to be the same exact color online, but in person, could be a different story; they have some cute scrub tops! I think they put 2 pockets on women's clothing because women tend to like thing symmetrical or balanced....just a theory!

That's a good point about the colors being different in person... maybe I'll just get my skills lab scrubs online and not my uniform scrubs. I think I'd like the top pocket instead of two pockets on the bottom because then there is a good place to clip your ID badge. I may be entirely too picky though haha!

Good morning ladies! Just in case anyone needs to do CPR - I'm signed up for the December 3 class @ Brookhaven!

Good Morning, SugarMagnolia!!! This is going to sound a little strange, but I have jury duty that week....Honest!! Some theft trial here in Denton, so I'm going to have to take CPR at the fire station or somewhere else here in Denton. I just want to get it over with this month, so I can get thru jury duty in December. I've never been on a jury before...hopefully, it will not take any longer than three days! I have already tried to get out of it, but since I'm not a full-time student this semester, I can not get an exemption!

Haha that doesn't sound strange - I had to go about a month ago! Unfortunately, I didn't move far enough away to be in Rockwall county, so I had to go to Dallas for mine. The good thing was - being out from work that day allowed me to go to the financial aid office (finally)! The wait there was actually way longer than it was at jury duty... I waited about 2 1/2 hours to talk to someone!

How is all that going for you anyway?? Were you able to secure financial aid for the program? I know you were worried about that! My last 2 years working as a flight attendant, I put back every dime I could to pay for this program and then my husband told me I could quit, so I did! Not working and going into this program is a huge load off of my mind and I'm grateful to my hubby for carrying us! And Brookhaven is notoriously bad when it comes to getting the financial aid processed!

Yeah it's looking like I'm going to have it all worked out, thanks for asking! I got them to re-evaluate my SAP hours so they're not counting hours from my last degree (that have nothing to do with nursing) against me. So that's a big help. I'm only going to be eligible for loans since I have a degree and made decent money these past couple of years, but I think I'll be able to make due. I've been saving all that I can for books, scrubs, etc... I've had to get my expenses way down to the bare minimum!

I Totally understand! And I'm glad that it's working itself out for you! It's difficult and I can empathize. I am lucky and owe so much to my husband for supporting my educational endeavors! I wouldn't have been able to do this any other way.

Sorry to blow up y'alls inboxes, so to speak, but the student I talked to from the Fall semester said that she got Wink scrubs and they are the same hunter green as the Cherokee, but more comfortable and have more pockets. I just ordered some from allheart.com and they were really reasonable... I got 3 pairs of scrubs for lab and 3 pairs for clinical, plus compression stockings and a couple penlights for $180, including shipping. Just in case y'all weren't sure which hunter ones to get :)

Thanks, SugarMag!!! Do the lab scrubs have to be hunter green too? That may sound like a stupid question, but I have to ask! You got a lot of stuff for $180.. that's awesome!!
