Brookhaven Fall 2020

Published

Hey everyone! I decided to start this forum because I am a current transferring Nursing student moving from AR to TX. I am in need of all the tea on the program and faculty. Please feel free to leave comments! I’m just trying to get all of my ducks in a row now. I hope to meet someone of you all along this journey!

I am having to wait until Sept to apply. Trying to figure out the vaccines without insurance. ? The only shot record I have is MMR. Not sure where to start, please let me know if you have any suggestions. I'll check with the school nurse this week.

Most people aren't Hep B vaccinated... it isn't until this newer generation that got Hep B as babies, I know I didn't get hep b as a baby. If you want the cheapest price for vaccinations you need to put in work and call around and shop for prices... you can go to vaccinefinder.org and search for clinics... you can also go and find a health center (HSNT - COLLIN COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER) and ask them for prices... You're going to have to get blood work done if you want to know if you're immune for Hep B... all the vaccines you can take before deadline but hep B.. Good luck. I just went to minute clinic to get mine done.

I actually never bought the book. I used the conversion paper and practice exams that were set on ecampus. In my case, however, I asked many of the nurses on my floor to show me how to convert those equations because they used to have to do it and once I got through a few of the questions, I was able to convert just about all of the equations without any help. Basically like @Tea said, class is 4 hours long with the first hour being a review. Use that review to ask about those questions!!! It helped me to verify that the way the nurse taught me to convert was the same way Mr. Meyer converted the questions. After that, he gives you 3 hours to take the test. You can use your phone for the calculator or bring your own.

Is the test multiple choice or is it just like the practice exam?

Exactly like the practice exam with different wording but same type of questions.

Good luck to everyone taking dosage today!

Dosage calculation is finally out of the way with a 99%!!!! It's finally time to apply ???

Just wanted to let you all know if you are interested in the PCT residency program at UT Southwestern, the application period is open NOW! So go ahead and apply and if you'd like to use me as a reference, go ahead ? .

Do you know if its just one person at a time ?

I don't think I quite understand. They hire more than one person for the PCT residency. But it's definitely a great opportunity for those who don't have any hospital experience.
