Hey everyone! I decided to start this forum because I am a current transferring Nursing student moving from AR to TX. I am in need of all the tea on the program and faculty. Please feel free to leave comments! I’m just trying to get all of my ducks in a row now. I hope to meet someone of you all along this journey!
Hello! I'm from the Spring 2021 semester thread. I just applied a few days ago. Does anyone know what the average points to acquire an interview are? I know that they do not accept the TT classes anymore, which is good bc I don't have any, haha. I had 29 when applying. Was this able to get anyone an interview at least in the fall? Sorry to butt into this thread, but no one is responding on the Spring 2021 Brookhaven nursing thread!
Thank you!

Hello! I'm currently a first semester student and I think I can kind of shed some light on points. I had 31 points when I applied. Not sure what I had for my interview points-I didn't ask and they probably wouldn't have told me anyways LOL but it was enough to get in. I would say since those are not factored in any more and thinking about the past few semesters that applied that didn't have the medical experience and TT points added in, anyone with 27 or higher is in good range. However, things can always change! As you can see, what applied for my semester won't apply for yours. Interviews can always bump you up some more over someone who may have more initial points than you. Hope this helps and good luck on getting in!
Congratulations! That's very exciting ?
It feels like ages ago that I had my interview, but I'll try my best to give you advice on what I remember!
First and foremost, be yourself! Seriously. Try to relax, smile, nod, and be as genuine as possible. It will likely be over video, so find a comfy and quiet spot with good lighting and you'll be good to go!
Second, look up some interview prep questions specifically for nursing school. They ask things like "Why do you want to be a nurse?" "What does it mean to be a good nurse?" "What is your definition of nursing?" "How do you handle stressful situations?" etc. They will only ask you I think like 2-3 questions, but it's best to practice the possibilities! The interview really does fly by.
Also, there's a written portion before the actual interview. It will be through email, and I think you only get 15 minutes to reply. So be ready for it! I'm pretty sure the question for us was "What are characteristics of a good nursing student?" So there's a good hint ?
And you'll hear from them soon-ish after! You're going to do great! Lmk if you have more questions!
