Brookhaven Fall 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Anyone here applying to Brookhaven's nursing program next month for their Fall 2012 admission?

I am..I need to take the HESI one more time in hopes of getting a higher score. The only support class that I do not have complete is End of Life so I hope with a higher HESI score and a good interview score I will have enough points to get in!

Congratulations to everyone who got in!!!

Just a few tips to save you guys money, time, and sanity...

Don't go buy special scrubs, they just told us a couple weeks ago that our uniform scrubs will be required in lecture starting this summer.

The foundations course is with the same teacher as the EOL course. It is difficult, a lot of people are making low grades (around 60) on the exams. As soon as you find out what book you have for foundations, start studying!!! We are using Kozier & Erbs Fundamentals of nursing 9th edition in that class, although 8th edition is really close and a lot of students use that one.

If you guys have any questions, I'll be at work for the rest of the day and get pretty bored, so feel free to ask.

Thank you! Good luck in the program! Hopefully I'll be able to join you guys in the spring :) *crossing fingers*

Thanks for the tips! I really can't think of many questions right now but I'm sure they will come to me :)

hmmm..do we have to bother with registration when it opens up on June for the Fall courses or will we be automatically put into the classes?

You will be emailed your schedule by AC and when you get that you have to enroll in the courses she tells you to.

lol, well looks like I got into the Northlake program as well, but I see a ton of A's that I don't remember earning...makes me glad I got accepted at BHC, I don't think they screw things up that badly. And I definitely do not remember attendin UTA or the university of boston O_o Holy moly I feel bad for people that go to the El Centro/Northlake campus.

Wow that is kinda scary that the El Centro/Northlake program makes those kind of mistakes!! I have heard that their program is VERY disorganized and frustrating.

Wow that kind of mix up has to be scary...you have others personal information, grades and schools. I wonder how could that happen.

Congrats to those of you who got accepted, I am so happy for you all!!! I'm in 1st semester at BH, and I would like to advise you all to get your Fundamentals textbook (mentioned in an earlier post) now and start reading it, and please get your hands on an NCLEX-RN book. Also, Davis's Fundamentals Success and Test Success are good to start off with. All of the tests you take from this point forward will be NCLEX style questions that require critical thinking.

Sorry for the late reply- been busy with pre-graduation stuff! It is difficult to find jobs in hospitals because so many people are competing for that spot. Not sure about other medical facilities. Home health is half and half on requiring experience. As far as BHC getting kicked out of hospitals for clincals, that has come straight from BHC staff and students. A second semester student told me that they cannot go to Children's anymore and the school is seeking an alternative. Staff told me 6 months ago that some of the Baylor facilities ar not letting them in anymore ( I think Irving and possibly Garland).

I made it!!!! *does happy dance*

Congrats Briterz, I know we've been talking on this forum for quite some time about you trying to get in! I'm excited for you!

My husband didn't get in. Poor guy, he sounds so defeated! Anyone have any advice on what he can do in the mean time?

The first time I applied I did not get in. I was on the cusp, but didn't have enough points from extra classes. I also could have done better on my HESI (89.5).

After Evolve released my HESI score and breakdown for me to view online, I took advantage of their free study packet, which he can put together under his login information. Basically, for everything that he missed a link will show up with review info, and you can save it all into your own personalized study guide. This way you are only reviewing what you struggled with. The second time I took the test after reviewing that I made a 96! That with a combination of support courses nailed it for me. Encourage him to take advantage of Summer and May term to squeeze those support courses in, but also have him seriously consider a BSN.

@msmia do you suggest any NCLEX-RN book in particular or just any?
