Bristol Community College Nursing

Published

Hello,

I wanted to know of anyone looking into the Bristol Community College nursing program or who is currently in it or was in it.

I am still taking the competitive pre-req courses right now to be able to apply to the Fall 2011 nursing program for Bristol Community College in Massachusetts. I currently have a 4.0 GPA.

After this semester, I just need to take A&P II (summer class) and Microbiology (Fall class). After that, all of the courses I need for the nursing program are complete except for the actual nursing classes.

If I get accepted into the BCC program for the Fall 2011 class, will I only be able to take 1 nursing class/semester so it's an additional two years from Fall 2011?

Thanks for your input!

hi everyone! congratulations to everyone for getting in. i am really excited to start the nursing program. i was wondering about the cori check, drug test forms and immunization forms that are due. i guess that we get all of that in our nursing pack in the mail? does anyone know? we all should meet up over the summer.

our welcome package will be sent out the end of this month/ beginning of next. it will have more details about when we need to complete these requirements and how much they will cost. the immunizations you need are tetorifice, mmr, hep b, varicella, and a tb test. if you can't find records, but think you've had these in the past, you can have blood work done to show immunity. hope this helps :)

Congrats to you!

Any day is fine with me. Perhaps sometime in June..Sat class?

Sat sounds good to me. I think doing it in June is a good idea. That way, we still all have 2 months to worry about the other things....., or.. just relax before an intense 2 years begins :)

I know that access BCC is still down but I think there is a class on the Sat the 18th..I think from 9-1?? What does everyone think? sound good?

Turns out I wont be taking CPR with all of you because I found out my work will pay for it :)

If anyone here is currently working, try asking your employer if they offer it before booking through the school.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to say congratulations! I just got my acceptance letter too, the wait drove me crazy but it was worth it! We are all now one step closer! I'm happy I found this site. It's really helpful lol

Hi Nikki, Congrats!! Do you need to take CPR? A few of us are planning to take it together in June. Also, we've been talking about all getting together to meet up after we get our "packets" in. That way we'll have some familiar faces to see once the semester starts.

Hi,Yea I need CPR...June sounds good to me. Are you all thinking of taking it through the school? I think meeting up is a great idea, i barely know anyone at BCC. School is going to be tough so it will be helpful to have friends to help get through it. I'm not sure if im more excited or nervous! Anyone else feel this way?

Hi Nikki.m! Congratulations on your acceptance. I also go through phases of feeling nervous and excited, mostly because everyone who has gone though nursing school tells me of how it's so different than traditional learning. I've heard there is a lot to get adjusted to and a lot to learn in those two years. However, I also remember being told how hard A&P was going to be by other students. They made it sound like there was no way to get an A in that class. Then while I was in A&P 2 students would tell horror stories about micro lol. What I noticed while taking those classes myself was that the ones who complained the most were usually the ones that skipped class, didn't study, unmotivated, etc. I'm sure nursing school will be challenging, but we've all gotten this far! I'm sure that as long as we stay positive and motivated we'll all do fine :)
