Hi all,
I wanted to create this thread for students applying to BCC's program for Fall 2021. How are things going for everyone in the current climate? Please feel free to share your thoughts, experiences, etc. Former/current students, do you have any insight to share?
Looking forward to hearing from you!

By the way you guys are awesome checking this thread and answering questions! Thank you
I love that they are doing that! I'm also having anxiety, I have a 10 year old going to middle school next school year and I have a 2.5 year old. I feel awful I don't spend much time. I feel like these past 2 years flew and I couldn't soak as much of the baby snuggles as I wanted to because my face was buried in a book and computer screen ?

They suggest not working more than 20hrs/week. But I work 28/week.
I'll admit some weeks are worse than others with the work, but we make do.

I know its super different for the first year students then what I experienced due to Covid. I hope things change when the new classes start. My first semester I was in traditional, and second semester I switched to eHealth. I absolutely love the staff for both first and second year.
First semester you have one 12 or two 6 hour shifts. You have Sim lab learning skills until right about Halloween then you get to go to the facility. First semester starts off self explanatory with precaution rooms, donning and doffing PPE, transferring and ambulating patients with orthopedic devices, infection control, med admin, vitals etc. But then second half hold on tight when you learn about Fluid and electrolytes/cardiac/ and GI/GU. But read your book, put in the work when you are suppose to and you will be fine. The only bad things I hear about the program are from people who couldnt really find a good balance but as long as you make yourself a study schedule and stick to it, youll succeed!

I have a 4 year old and currently pregnant with #2! I get a big desk calendar and write in what day Im gonna study what topic, when I am gonna work on clinical material, etc. I usually work weekends only about 12-16 hours but I have friends who work 40 hours and 24hrs and do well. It's all about time management! And coffee LOL
