Brightwood College

Published

I have heard a lot about brightwood not being nationally accredited. I would like to know what that means exactly. If I pass the NCLEX from this school I am an RN, correct? So, what does accreditation mean? I also want to continue on and get my BSN and so on. Is this where accreditation comes in? Will I be able to apply and attend a CCNE accredited school for my BSN?

Thabks y'all. I'm so confused.

You're right, jcmpilch, there is some confusion out there about accreditation. It's important to note that the U.S. Department of Education has recognized Brightwood College as an institution in good standing and has stated that it will remain provisionally accredited through June 12, 2018. In the meantime, Brightwood College also is pursuing approval from a new accreditor – Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). This is a complicated process with many steps. Our goal is to make this process as minimally disruptive to our students as possible. You also ask some very good questions about the NCLEX, what's needed to become a RN and obtain your BSN, and applying to a CCNE-accredited school. The answers to these vary depending on each person's situation. If you would like to further discuss your questions, please don't hesitate to contact the dean at your local Brightwood campus. To find contact information visit Brightwood College. Or, you can email us at [email protected].

I am so glad I did my research and decided against it. How sad for those students.
