Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.
My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much.
(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)
@nursecessaryThank you!
I wish to do the application online. Did you also apply online?
How money on the bank would suffice for this visa?
How long did it take to process the visa?
Did they require for medical exam?
Did mine via pen and paper app. Have we qualified for the online route lately? As to the money, the visa case officer would want to see that you can pay the BP tuition and that you can handle you living expenses for 3 months (tuition+300k php if I had to guess). Visa app took a month from submission to approval.
Hi bigbrowneyes! Im also considering ihna for bp. Im still waiting for my loe though. my app was reviewed last dec10 so maybe i can join the feb intake. Did you enroll already? And did you avail their accommodation?
i have my COA already. hurry so we can be in the same intake... message me at [email protected] or add me on fb.
Hi everyone, I just had my referral letter for bridging and still looking for school in melb. I am considering ETEA since it is cheaper and more accessible than IHNA. Anyone here planning to go to ETEA as well? I checked AHPRA's website and ETEA is included in their list of accredited schools for bridging program (please correct me if I am wrong).
Will the institution we will be graduating from the BP affect the re-registration in ahpra and job qualifications?
Thanks in advance.
I don't think that there is a major impact if you graduated from ETEA or any major universities or schools that offer a bridging program here in Australia. For instance, I finished my BP in IHNA and I was only lucky to be sponsored for a working visa through a friend's referral. Some of my classmates were able to find job based on the experience they have gained as an RN, but even with extensive qualifications some of my classmates opted to wait for their PR approval since they are not that lucky to secure a job.
It would matter if you'll be able to get a student visa instead of a visitor's visa for your BP. Try searching for school that advise students to come to australia with that visa, usually they are universities. The benefits include 20 hours fortnight working rights which is an aid to cover up your expenses after bridging. To be able to extend your time here in Oz while waiting for a permanent working opportunities and a stable visa (working or PR).
All the best. :-)

Hi.. IHNA accomodation is way too expensive.. Is it still $3000 for the 10weeks BP? that's like $300/week rent. Some of my classmates opted to rent a room nearby school. I think price ranges from $150-$170. Huge difference when it comes to the rent cost and cleanliness..
