Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Hi! Im Laraine, newbie here. :)

Im a Filipino registered nurse but currently working here in Singapore for more than 3 years already. I want to move to Australia. I took my IELTS exam 2 weeks ago and am thankful that i got the grades that i need. Next is the APHRA, right? i just want to get some info on the aphra application since i'm a bit lost of all the requirements needed. I hope somebody can roughly let me know what documents do i need to comply. I have all my school records with me but they are all dated 2010. Will it be fine?

and about 2 months ago, i emailed DEAKINS university in Melbourne to ask for the fees for the bridging course and i was told its about approximately 12500 AUD. is it really around that much or are there any schools that offers cheaper bridging course fees.. am a bit tight with m budget this time.

IELTS. next is APHRA. then BRIDGING COURSE. am i on the right track? :)

and i have my multiple entry tourist visa for australia valid until dec 2014. can i still use it just in case everything goes well for my bridging course or do i need to get another like student visa if there is such a thing? am going back to melbourne this may so i am also planning to pass by deakins university so i can also check with them some other queries.

I hope someone can give me some insights for my case here. thank you so much. :)

hi was wondering have u done with your ahpra application? im working in sg too. working on requirements for ahpra.

If you study nursing (bridging course or bachelor of nursing) you must pass IELTS with score of 7 to register as a nurse with AHPRA. If you do not pass the English test you can not work as a nurse. Some international students I know from last year have taken the test several times & not passed. It costs money each time you take the test.

For BP, you need an IELTS with score of 7 in all areas, but for BSN course (1-2 yrs depending on credit transfer) you don't need IELTS to register with AHPRA

Hi there! I really need help. I am very much confused about this Bridging Program. I am a permanent residency visa holder in Australia and is a recent NLE passer. I have no experience yet since my mom wants me to be with them in Australia asap. I am about to take IELTS this month as one of the requirements for BP. Can somebody please tell me how this thing (BP) works? What will be the requirements I'll be needing to comply? Please help me. I am really confused by now. I don't know where to start. Thank you very much!!

I doubt you can get an AHPRA eligibility since you haven't had the required 3 years work experience for overseas nurses. You might want to take the long route (study again for a year, ask the Uni for credit transfer) unless you're a graduate of section 1 Uni (like UP) ofcours. It'll be easy since you are a PR holder and will be eligible for student loans if you decided to study again.

^ actually PR holders (other than the humanitarian visa) are not eligible for student loans if they want to study Bachelor's, etc. But they are eligible for loans if it's a bridging program only.

This is something we can not answer and something you need to discuss with your doctor

PPD is not definitive. They might ask you to undergo an X-ray exam.

Your previous BCG vax can give a false positive result (use Interferon gamma release assay if available) or you got exposed but not necessarily infectious (yet). In any case Pulmos wont treat you after a negative radiologic exam for an inactive infection.

hello!! i'm new here..i am rooting for the June 2014 batch at IHNA Heidelberg campus (if the visa gets approved hopefully), anyone on the same track as me??

BTW, can anyone help me regarding immunisation requirements for IHNA?? I already have the form but i have no idea how it should be filled out.. like do i need a signature from my doctor or something??can anyone help me with this please?? i would appreciate if you could send me an email regarding this issue ... [email protected]... thank you!:)

Go to any laboratory for any serology needed keep results, show it to a doctor, have her/his sign and that's it! Keep all laboratory results with you as proofs. With regards to online visa application, it took me 3 days. Yes, that fast as long as you have all the necessary requirements needed. There is no interview done for me.So you can try online visa application

to my future la trobe classmate junie_navis:

how have you been doing with that positive ppd now? That could be false positive. As nurses we get to be exposed but not necessarily infectious. Get an x-ray. have your doctor read it and certify it...I am in Australia right now. have you got a place to stay in? Try to visit this website The Graduate Bendigo Student Accommodation. Its the cheapest yet comfortable place ive choosen to stay in together with a friend. Its 185 per week, all inclusive except linens and kitchen utensils. its ensuit (own CR inside your room). So you might want to consider the place

I will just have to certify my ppd result and the rest of my vaccinations. anyway, i had already reserve for an accommodation although it is quite far from the university, i will just check the accommodation you have referred. thanks...
