Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.
My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much.
(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)
If you study nursing (bridging course or bachelor of nursing) you must pass IELTS with score of 7 to register as a nurse with AHPRA. If you do not pass the English test you can not work as a nurse. Some international students I know from last year have taken the test several times & not passed. It costs money each time you take the test.

Thank you for that reply. I am just confused cause my aunt always tells me to study there in AU for two years then afterwards I could practice my profession after finishing the course. But I also know that I won't be able to secure my career there without passing the ielts. It's just somehow I envy my cousin who will be going there in 2 months time from now together with her husband cause they could start their life in Australia.
Hello! I am new poster but lurker for quite some time now. I'm currently reviewing for IELTS and I would just like to clarify if there is a BP school that offers monthly intake for nurses? Or any BP school that accepts intake for this year? If there's a website you can recommend, I would highly appreciate it. I can't find the exact page in the long forum so I really need your help. TIA. :)
hi, is there anyone here who passed their application in aphra-wa and received their loe already? mine was 5months ago, still no loe yet..
Hi princess, I think you need to be aggressive on this one. I encountered problems with aphra, the email account they registered is different from the one I'm using so I didn't received the updates and my loe on time. So I think it will be better if you can give them a call...

Hello there, kindly pls. help me Im really confused. My aunt who were now in Australia and a citizen there, told me to study in a University in Australia and take up nursing for 2 years. This is not a bridging program. I will be spending like $24,000 a year for my tuition fee and she said that after finishing the course, I won't need to take IELTS again cause some Filipinos who she met were already working in a hospital (where she is now currently working) and they didn't took the IELTS exam. But I also did my research about this AHPRA wherein you will still need to follow all the requirements and that includes IELTS of 7. I also feel the pressure cause my cousin will be going to Australia as a student visa in 2 months time. I don't know if I should also do the same even if I knew that I will be spending $24k for my tuition fee. I need some help with regard to this. I wanted to know, is it possible to go to University in Australia and spent 2 years there studying nursing then after I will be able to work as RN there without taking the IELTS exam after finishing the course? Kindly post your reply. Thanks a lot. :)
