Bridging Program in Australia

World Registration

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

It's the Visitor visa (subclass 600) business stream. :)

You can sign up for health insurance with Bupa, Medibank, or Nib. :)

hi! I would like to ask about the insurance that i need to get for my bridging program.. Like in bupa..should i get the 'overseas visitors' or the 'overseas students' ?

I am thinking of getting the 'overseas students' health insurance coz it has 3 months duration. Would that be fine? Even my visa is subclass 600 (tourist-business stream)

If you are doing the bp, get the overseas student insurance. The other one is for temporary residents or tourists.

I think this will be the third time that I will be sharing my experience about the BP. Some of you guys have heard my story before about how my journey has been. After finishing the BP last March 2013 I began applying for jobs here in Au. I had 3 interviews, one from NSW, and 2 from VIC. Aside from that, I am supposed to have my interview with VIC's biggest private hospital but unfortunately, it was cancelled because they knew that I needed their sponsorship. However, before getting these interviews, I received a lot of reject letters as well. I mean, LOTS. I passed all my interviews, with God's grace. Since my interview with one of the hospital here in Vic was the fastest among them to process my papers, I decided to go with them. Had my interview in May 1, got my nomination approval just last May 31, lodged my 457 visa this June 1 and finally, got my 457 visa approval just last night. :) This is the most wonderful feeling I had. To God be the Glory! :)[/quote']

God is good indeed! I am so happy for you annie_vg! I am doing BP too, im in my last 3 weeks of clinical placement. I hope I can find a hospital that will sponsor me too.

To God be all the Glory!!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful news! All of us needs to pass through a needle hole. That's why we need to do our best and let God do the rest.

Ms. Annie, If I may ask. You are on a multiple entry visa right? You finished your BP on March. Was that 3 months already from the date of entry? You had to exit and come back again right? How many weeks did you exit and returned again? And did you just decided to enter Australia again while waiting for your registration or you decided to come back to Australia to job hunt? Would it be really better for us to job hunt in Australia even if the application is through online?

Also, for the 457 visa...the employer took care of it for you or you're the one processing it?

My BP started in January and ended in March. I need to exit last April 6 but during that time, I already have my registration with me. Also, before I went back to the Philippines, I booked a return ticket to Au. I decided to go back to Australia after 20 days because I applied for so many jobs and I was wondering, what if they called and I am not around. I just cant let the chances pass.

Another thing, I left my mobile phone to my friend here in Au so she was the who received my first invitation for interview. My friend gave me the number and when I called, I informed the Nurse Manager that I'm still in the Philippines because of my visa. The Nurse Manager was kind enough to wait for me to come back. :)

My another interview invitation which is from NSW, was just sent thru email.

I have a friend who did the BP as well, and she's in the Philippines when she had her interview. She passed and right now, she's also processing her visa.

My sponsorship and nomination was paid by my employer, but the lodging and payment of the 457 visa at my own expense. 457 visa is $455 at the moment. I have read that it will increase by July 1 to $900, but I am not really sure if that's true.

Good luck everyone. Pray hard, it works. :)

Tip: make sure that you have relatives in Australia if you decide to come back, it's just not practical to come back and pay for an accommodation.

Hi everyone, has anybody here applied to ACN, formerly, CON and ...? I thinkI had some disappointments with them because

1. I have given them all documentations needed last March and they told me to wait. I did.

2. Followed-up regularly as to the schedule of selection for the July intake. They kept telling me that I am on the selection list.

3. Followed-up on June 2, only to be told that I am not accommodated for the July intake.

4. They told me that I am still on the selection list for their upcoming intakes.

Having been disappointed, I submitted my documents to ETEA and IHNA. Now, I a, not sure about these two schools. I read previous comments though.

Having read previous comments, it dawned on me that Australia does not seem to need anymore foreign-trained nurses. So questions again,

1. Why would the AHPRA still accept applications for registrations if such is the case?

2. Why should schools that offer the BP still offer it when there are already lots of Aussie nurses who are hard in finding jobs?

I am still hopeful to get to Oz and be registered and probably find a job but then again, if such is the scenario, what future awaits me and the others who might have borrowed money just to get registered as a nurse and Australia and then be jobless after.

Probably the AHPRA and the ANMC should look into this. Do not make overseas nurses only sources of revenue by going through the process and then be jobless when they are finally registered.

Hi there! When did you submit all the requirements for the BP? How much time did you wait to be accommodated for the July intake? I would to know because I am not as lucky as you.
