Brenau ABSN Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone!

I was recently accepted into Brenau's new ABSN program and wanted to connect with other accepted students as well as prospective students. What are you guy's feelings regarding the program in general? I'm just ready to begin my career as a nurse the quickest route possible!

Does someone mind updating me on how the ABSN program is now? I'm applying for Fall 2020. Thanks!

Hi! Looking for anyone who can tell me how Brenau does their ABSN program?

I'm not in the program but what's really turning me 'off' is the fact that one of the admin reps keep 'bugging' me about starting. with texting, emails, and phone calls. So to me it seems they are desperate. I've told that admin rep that I'm not interested but looks like they don't take good notes or don't really care as if they have a quota to fulfill. So it's a hard pass for me with this school.

They were doing that to me too! I was getting annoyed because I wasn’t sure if they’re just eager or trying to fit a quota like you said...like if I have concerns, I would call/email; the contacting me every week was a bit excessive. And, I’m finding little to no students’ experiences about the ABSN program, which is making me worried. An admission rep can sale a program to anyone, but program alumni say the truth.

So... all ABSN programs will do that. I applied to Mercer and Brenau.. Mercer with their reputation, would not leave me alone. I don’t think it’s a “quota”. I think they were the first two schools I introduce an ABSN, faster than GA States, In Georgia.

Your statement about all ABSN programs doing that is false. I completed my ABSN at KSU (16 months), one of the best nursing programs in the state, and I never received a call from a rep. KSU’s ABSN program has been around for several years and the ABSN programs at Mercer and Brenau are fairly new. Maybe it does have something to do with enrollment numbers. Mercer is a great school nonetheless, but Brenau didn’t have the best reputation for their nursing programs. At one point, they almost lost their accreditation due to a low NCLEX pass rate. As of recently, they’ve redeemed themselves and are performing better.

I’ve had the opposite with Mercer ABSN. Because I’m not applying until next year the admin rep follows up with me once a month with a date pre scheduled and agreed upon by us both. Unlike Breanu who I told after speaking about my career change and discussing the program that I’m not interested, I get spammed by them. After telling them a 2nd time I’m not interested.

Yes indeed. I’ve found Mercer ABSN students (current and just graduated) to be very forthcoming with me, which is appreciated especially a new program (ABSN) and not the school

I was accepted to both Mercer and Brenau and I’m going with Brenau because of cost and I have 3 friends who have been through it who have told me they were more than prepared for the NCLEX! So that made me feel a lot better because I also couldn’t find anyone on this website who had been through their program. I know Brenau had a rocky rep in the past but they’ve seem to really redeemed themselves!
