BRCC point system

I've herd Baton Rouge CC use a point system for applicants. I know a few of the categories include: GPA, Hesi Scores, & # of pre-reqs taken there. Does anyone know any other specifics?? Or which categories have the most weight? I am one of the nervous ones........ Waiting on my acceptance letter!!!! June?!! It seems so long!!

That's the only 3 criteria. GPA of the 5 required pre-reqs, HESI score, and then how many classes taken at BRCC. In that order. We were told that last admitted class had a cut-off GPA of 3.6 and the average HESI was in the lower 90's.

My GPA is good. I have all A's & one B. I took all my classes there.... But I didn't score high on the Hesi test b cuz I ran out of time. As far as what u just said about the Hesi scores are not true. My co-worker got in the program last year & she had a 86%.

But I do believe her GPA was a 3.6.

I never said the HESI cut-off was lower 90's, I said that was the average.

Ok. Sorry.... I believe this is the second or third time I've herd someone say something similar.

I learned yesterday that everyone who meets the minimum requirements are put in a pool. A lottery is then taken from this pool. Why do I believe that's really how they do it? Well, I took two of my pre-reqs at ULL, when I got my first degree (years ago). I scored 85 on my HESI since I was late and didn't review. I have 3-A's and 2-B's in my pre-reqs. I was actually preparing to reapply for 2014, but received my acceptance letter for fall 2013. Don't listen to what everyone else says. When God gives you favor, it doesn't matter what other folks say/think. If its for you, its for you. If not, then its not your season. Pick up from there and try again. I don't mean to preach but, everyone seems to think they know the answer when clearly that's not the case!

So, does that mean the ppl that exceeds the requirements are not in this pool?

I don't believe there was a lottery. I think there just wasn't as much competition this year. It varies year to year.

Thats believable! Most ppl I talk to believe BRCC is very competitive & hard to get in because they accept their students 1st. So, alot of ppl probably dont even apply to BRCC anymore. For whatever reason.... A lottery or not, I'm thankful to have gotten in this year!

I agree. I heard from one of the professors that this year had the lowest amount of applicants since they started. They are very clear that they use a point-based ranking system. I even managed to peek at the ranked list when I went down there two weeks ago.
