BRCC NURSING 2017

Published

This is a thread for students who are applying in the Spring of 2017 at Baton Rouge Community College for the ASN program! Feel free to comment with questions, thoughts, or anything else that pertains to the nursing program! :)

Aw thank you so much. This is my second time applying. I really thought I improved everything a whole lot but I guess there's a whole lot of great future nurses. Fingers crossed I get the phone call. I really hope each and everyone of you get in. You all deserve it.

I got accepted!!!

Thank you littlebit. I really do hope you end up in the program.

I start in the spring.

Thank you! Y'all are going to do great.

& I hope I do too, I'd love to meet y'all !

I didn't get in. I had a 3.2 GPA because i was given advanced credit for english and college algebra. So I only had 3 classes that could count towards my GPA even though I've taken all the non-nursing classes required to finish the degree. I have an A in 2 of the pre-req classes and a C in one. I had a 95.6 on the HESI with 100% on the biology and only missed 1 question on the math. This was my first and only time taking the HESI. 1 of my pre-reqs was taken at BRCC and the other 2 were taken at LSU. Saying that its hard to get into the program is an understatement. I mistakenly thought that I could get in because I was better prepared academically then some of the other applicants I came across who had repeated courses and taken the HESI on several occasions. I really want to be a nurse and BRCC is the only affordable option for me so now I'm trying to decide if I'm going to go back and take a freshman course over again after taking junior level Biology classes and senior level Chemistry classes on the off chance that I might get in after sitting out a year. At the end of the day I will still only have one course taken at BRCC..... I'm totally confused about where to go from here.

If you want to go to brcc nursing school, I'd advise you retake that course you made a C in for sure, and attempt to make the same or higher grade on the HESI. Sorry to hear that.

I got accepted guys!!!!

Oh congratulations !!!!! So happy for everyone!!!

Hey guys, I'm new and just enrolled in BRCC. My goal is to apply for the 2018 enrollment period.

I don't have any friends or know anyone that's in the program right now. Do you guys happen to know if textbooks are mandatory or if they're paper/digital format?

Thanks!

Hey, someone mentioned here that the lowest GPA they took in 2016 was a 3.5 (https://allnurses.com/registered-nurses-diploma/brcc-jan-2017-1045733.html)

Not sure how reliable that is, but best bet would be to retake that one course and make yourself as competitive as possible.

When I spoke to Christin Dillion, she mentioned that the applicants are rated as such:

40% GPA

50% HESI

10% courses taken at BRCC
