Boston College Master's Entry 2014 applicants

Hi everyone,

With the Nov 15 deadline looming close and closer, I wanted to start a topic for everyone applying. I'm just about ready to submit my application. Still obsessing over the personal statement, especially the part about personal development and being a lifelong learner, etc. Not an easy essay topic! How are everyone's applications coming?

I think I'll be putting down my deposit tomorrow. Mzaur, a mission trip is another term for a "service trip" - I believe a couple of the locations are Haiti and the DR. We'd be using our acquired nursing skills to help a community in need there.

Hey guys! I called and spoke with someone in the admission's office today and I just thought I'd give everyone else still waiting an update. She told me that if you did not receive an email in the first wave, you are a qualified applicant and have not been rejected (yay!). In the second wave, you either will be accepted or waitlisted depending on how many people from the first wave put down their deposits. She told me that we should receive an email by Wednesday. I just sent in my deposit. Not completely sure between BC and MGH (and if I get in off the waitlist at Penn I'll probably go there), but plan is for BC psych mental health! Sarahpsych and everyone else still waiting, I hope you get in next week!

And mzaur, a mission trip is basically what a service trip is called when it's run by a religiously affiliated organization. Someone at the info session last Friday went on the one to Haiti this winter break and said it was a great experience.

Well I got the email today from BC telling me I'm waitlisted. Congrats to all accepted. Anyone know how the waitlist works?

I got waitlisted too :( the email was very vague.

I think what they will do, is depending on how much space they have after this next round, they refer to the waitlist going forward and start filling the remaining spots. However, what I am not sure if individuals are ranked or how they go down the waitlist.

Just a quick update for everyone else who got waitlisted. I was told that the second wave people have until the 25th to make their decisions and their waitlist is ranked, at least for psych.

She would not give an exact number, but she did say I was in the top 5 for psych so if you email her you might be able to get some sort of idea.
