hi, i want to start reading from now.. what books do you recommend that i purchase??
Wow, I didn't realize that at other campuses they might not let you use the math sheet for the exams. At north they do up until Ortho/Neuro or Cardio.
All BC campuses follow the same rules as I was told........... so in the beginning you are allowed to use the math conversion sheets, and towards the end, I think it's ortho/neuro when you are not allowed
Hi Ladies,
I really think sometimes they wing it as they go. LOL I will be done with Peds this month. And we lost 8 people for the Math. Nine failed initially, then only ONE passed the re-test. It was the first time we weren't allowed to use the sheet. And we still have two rotations to get to Ortho/Neuro...so in our case, that didn't apply.
We didn't find out until the day of the exam. Our Professor said we have been using the sheet all along and should know the rules by now. And she didn't bother giving it to us. So I think it's really just best to know it, in case you are thrown for a loop unexpectedly.
I'm not trying to scare anyone, and I know all campuses and instructors are different. I just don't want anyone to take it lightly. I heard from someone who is about to graduate, that in her Cardio rotation, over TWENTY people failed the Math exam initially. So between that and what happened with us in Peds, I just think it's best to be over prepared. We started with close to 60 people in May, and are down to about 25 (plus about 3 more who are from previous generic classes). So I'm just holding my breath and praying I can pull everything off!
BTW, the rounding/conversion rules are not hard to memorize. But it's kind of a little safety net when you have the sheet in front of you during an exam. I'm convinced that if we had known they wouldn't let us use it in Peds, and been prepared for that, we would have lost less people this rotation.
I literally live 3 minutes from south and would love to go to there, but i don't think they'll have a program that will start in may, and i need to start as soon as possible in order to finish. I just hope that my 8 points will get me in
Don't worry in what campus you start. just study super hard, put your time in, and you will see great results!!

You got it BumblebeeRN. I intend to keep my head down, shut my mouth, and study super hard. I think that a lot of students getting in don't have the luxury to complain (even though if i do, it will be either here, or in my head). I intend to study hard, and forget about my social life. I think that should get me through. I have a quick question, if ur in the nursing program, do you study with other student, or do you find it better to study on your own?
Yes, Bumblebee actually graduated from South about two years ago. Lucky her! :grad:I am currently at south. I just want to stress to you, that you shouldn't be so hung up on which campus is "better". I used to be the same way. I took pre-reqs at all campuses, but I live in Miami. So naturally south was closest to me. But I had heard so many horror stories about south and central, and I was terrified to choose either one for the program. I seriously considered driving an extra hour PER DAY to go to north, just to escape those "evil" instructors I had heard so much about. LOL
But in the end, I chose south and am very glad I did. I have no idea which campus is better, harder, or has the worst instructors. I think there are good and bad at all three. You should base your decision on which campus is most convenient for you, and make up your mind that you are going to do this, without letting other people stand in your way. As long as you listen to what you are told, study hard, and don't stand out for negative things, I think you have the same shot at passing at all three campuses.
Good luck to you! And start looking over your math from the site Bumble sent. Believe it or not, to date we have lost more people from that, than any lecture or clinical. Learn the rounding rules and conversions sheet, because for us, not all instructors let you use it for the exam.
Hiiiiiiii HoneyBee!!!! I'm at South too!! I'll be starting GI/GU and Pysch next semester! I'll have to agree that you should try to go to the campus for convenience not because you've heard horror stories about the others. It helps when you have 7am clinicals and don't have to worry about driving an hour away to get there on time (of course it is doable). My advice is to talk to people who are in the semesters/classes ahead of you so you can have a good idea of what to be ready for. Like she said practice your math and MEMORIZE those conversions and rules NOW. South campus is def not easy and from what people have said I feel like it may be a lot harder than North but just make sure you READ READ READ. The test questions come DIRECTLY from the Perry Potter book for Process 1 and 2.

Yep. I'm on my way to Psych in Jan and OB in Mar. We already registered. You have actually given me advice on everything so far, from south campus, to instructors, to the ROPES course. LOL You probably just don't realize the extent of it, because you talk to so many people.
