Hello all,
I got accepted at BMCC evening/weekend program and in the info package one of the books that is required is Schuster (2002) Concept Mapping: A critical Thinking approach to acre planning (5th Ed) Published by F.A. Davis. (Used in fall 2004)
I looked online and this is the closes I could get to this book:
http://www.buy.com/prod/concept-mapping-a-critical-thinking-approach-to-care-planning/q/loc/106/205139879.html
This is 2nd edition and they are requesting 5th. I could not find anywhere. Nothing after 2nd edition. So, if anyone can confirm that they used this (above) book at BMCC please let me know so I can purchase ahead of time. Or if you know where I can find it, again, please let me know. Thanks

if you cannot find the book online go to the barns and nobels on 5th avenue coner of 18th street.... there you will be able to find all the nursing books you will need for the 4 semesters of nursing school.... this is the only BnN where you will find every text book. good luck
Thanks a lot...I'll do that.

Hi there.
I just graduated from BMCC and can tell you not to worry too much at all with regard to the editions of that book. In fact, I made it thru the program without ever having purchased that book! It is used for your Concept Maps (care plans) and you can use the copy that is in the BMCC library should you find yourself needing it. That's what I did.
Good luck to you!
Thank you! I called BMCC book store and they have 2nd edition, so I believe that is just typo on school's end. Anyway....do you have any tips for the first semester? Thanks again!
I have no general advice for you - everyone is different - I just wish you the best of luck. If you have specific questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask!

Congratulations on being accepted to BMCC. I too am a graduate of BMCC Evening / Weekend program and passed the NCLEX this past summer. I just finished cleaning my house of review books (no longer needed) and stumbled upon that Schuester book and IT WAS STILL IN WRAPPER - lmao. Some of my classmates did look / read the book and got more confused afterwards. Look when the professors will give you a mock care plan and will quickly - I mean quickly..lol, review how to do the concept map. It's very time consuming but it's doable. Suggestion: Pick up a care Med / Surg Care Planning book that will help your interventions and rationales. You will see how students will "make up" their interventions and rationales - everyone did not knowing that a care planning book makes your life much easier and is evidence based. Any questions, PM me. Good luck and pass Nur112 - you have to pass that class in order to move along.
There are also other care planning books for OB, Peds, Psych respectively but you will definitely need the Med/ Surg for Nur 3 and Nur 4. Best of luck - BMCC creates great nurses - especially the evening program and you will see that when you meet the day students. Nothing against them - but you will notice.

The books are so so expensive. Anybody who want to sell their books? or can advise where to get cheaper books?

go online and buy your books, I did this for every semester except the first one where I bought at the book store, waste of money, try amazon, textbook.com, halfbay.com, etc just type in textbooks and many sites will come up, buy used and go for an earlier edition, example 5th if you need 6th believe me I have books here I never used, one still in the shrink wrap, and good luck work hard, study and you'll do fine, it goes by so fast, I graduate in May and it seems like only yesterday I was doing my first class.
