Bono praises nurses

Published

i went to see u2 last night and bono dedicated a song, miracle drug, from their new album to everyone in the medical field. he said, "our doctors, our nurses, everyone. while this is for the doctors, it's especially to the ones that work the hardest, our nurses."

everyone cheered and it was just a good feeling. although i am just a nursing student, i yelled my heart out for all of you that are working the hardest- our nurses. :yelclap:

Bono Is Far More Than Just A Musician. He Has Been A Activist For Peace And The Heath And Welfare Of Those Who Cannot Even Speak For Themselves All Over The World.I Find His Comment About Nurses To Be Very Honest And Quite Powerful Considerng All The Nurses Around The World He Probably Has Seen Trying To Work Under Third World Conditions To Save Lives. Thank You Bono.

I agree with you, if it wasn't for people like Bono that are in the industry (Music) somethings would remain the same. Sorry if I stepped on anybody's toes. I just think he is a great human being and a great singer. Life would be boring if we didn't have music.

My apoligies in advance. I know that was a tad harsh.

Yeah well at least you apologized. Dang dude....it wasn't like I said Britney Spears praised nurses. I thought Bono was a little more credible than some celebrity "throwing you a bone" Who pissed in your cornflakes?? dang...

Just for the record, I wasn't trying to say we should all hail Bono and every other musician if they praised nurses. Bono is more than a "musician" in my book in my book and that's why his comment meant so much to me. So so much to me. Thanks for listening. :)

I think most all understood why you posted and agree that Bono is a cut above in his regard for humanity. Thanks for passing this on!

I love Bono and am going to see him November 16th and I can't wait.

Timothy, while my self esteem and self-worth doesn't depend on what others, think, I love the press and it helps us all. So thank you Bono.

I do go to a concert to hear music and hate when they politicize their shows. But with stars like Bono, I expect a little, if not a lot of that, just because of who he is. I'm going anyway as I've been a fan since the 80s. His music since the early 80s has been political.

Tweety, you will LOVE the show. It's phenomenal. They played some great old stuff from Boy and War. It's just awesome.

I hope you enjoy it!

I can't wait!! I'm presuming they will have a screen, because I got nosebleed seats. I had a hard time getting tickets, the first two levels sold out in 20 minutes and I had to get nosebleed seats, but at least I got them. I CAN'T WAIT!

I was in the 7th row only b/c I camped for tickets! haha. The whole place sold out within 35 minutes..I am in Dallas. The screen was pretty cool but I wasn't looking at it the whole time so I missed some of the good shots everyone was talking about after the show.

FYI they had some AWESOME vintage shirts from past tours like Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, War, and that's all I can remember right now. Anywho, those shirts were $50 each and I wish I would have brought enough with me. I wound up getting a tour t-shirt that was $35...really wish I had had $50 though...just thought I would let you know in case you would want one. According to my shirt, you will be seeing them in Atlanta on the 16th?? You'll have to let me know what you think! I know you'll love it. It was one of the best shows I have seen....

I'm so jealous I would have loved seeing them. I heard that their concerts are fab. Have a great time! :Melody:

Saw them Friday in Houston. They sold out in two minutes here. I have seen them several times, and even up in the nosebleed section, it was by far the BEST U2 concert I have ever seen. ( and I saw Joshua Tree!) I think it's great that he praised nurses. He complimented the city of Houston for all of our assistance to hurricane victims, and it was nice to be recognized by such an outspoken humanitarian activist. Maybe that's why they gave us TWO (or was it THREE!) encore sets! Hint: If you go see U2, Don't leave the concert until the house lights go up!

Definitely! They gave us like 2 or 3 encore sets as well and people were leaving thinking it was over!! I knew something was up...the way our seats were angled by the stage, we could see Bono standing underneath and knew he was going to come back out or something... It was so awesome. They played Angel of Harlem which I have been waiting to hear live my whole life. Bono invited some guy from the audience on stage to jam out with Edge. I couldn't even imagine having an opportunity like that. It was an amazing show and one I will always remember.
