yes I am !!!!! and moving back home from Switzerland after 20 years to do so. Sounds like it will be a good course - from the feedback I have seen about the teachers etc. so I am totally excited. Congrats to you. Will you be there for the orientation? I am still wondering about a lot of things like when do we have to get CPR certified and when do we have to get the physical etc. but I am sure we will find out soooooon enough!!!!
I began the program 8/31/09, our physicals were not due till October, but I would suggest getting it completed ASAP, that way if anything is missing you have time to get it. I remember people handing in their physicals last minute only to find out something was missing and they were sent home and not allowed to return until everything was complete. CPR is not required for the program, nor do they teach it. You need to do this on your own and since the certification in BLS has to be renewed every two years, I would suggest waiting till the end of your program to become certified. Good luck to all of you.

You do not need to be CPR certified and the rather large physical packet will be given to you in september. This is to be completed by your doctor and returned by the date. They will be on your butt if you don't turn it in because you cannot be assigned to a clinical group without it. If you hand it in with blanks.. it will be handed back to you. Take my advice.. don't hand it in(or leave your doctors office for that matter) unless its completed. I had to make 3 trips to my doctors office for this packet. By the 3rd time the receptionists knew who I was and why I was there lol.

I heard back from them a month later after I had my interview. theres still time!
I had my interview on April 12th for Eastern Suffolk Boces and haven't heard back from them yet, I'm starting to get nervous. When I had my interview I was told I would be reccomended for full time day because of my test scores but they hadnt recieved one of my references yet (I was 100% positive it had been sent) The person resent it and I called to ask if it had been recieved yet but was told they couldn't tell me yet because everything was still being processed. I really hope this doesn't effect my chances. I leave on vacation tomorrow for 2 weeks and crossing my fingers I come home to an acceptance letter!
I just took my boces exam this morning and I received a call back for an interview in the afternoon(sched for next friday).
After reading about the recommendations I am a little nervous due to the fact that I have been out of school for the previous year. I am hesitant to ask any of my prior professor for a rec bc im am not confident they will provide a persuasive enough letter due to our lack of contact. I will be able to obtain one from my boss and one from a philanthropist friend whom I volunteer for. I am a curious how they expect three recommendations (which is more than virtually all four year institutions) from people who have had a 'non-traditional' learning experience. Are personal references entirely unacceptable?
Secondly I wanted to ask for some feedback from those who have been accepted into the program on the interview and subsequent process following the interview. Can anyone provide example questions that s/he remembers from the interview. Any suggestions on preparation? Anyone care to share a bad interview story that would be extremely helpful too....
Congrats to everyone accepted!! :yeah:and good luck to those who havent heard yet
