Hello Everyone,
I passed the Kaplan, May 31,2017 with an overall score of 78%. I would like to start chatting with other prospective nursing students who applied for BMCC's nursing program and successfully passed the kaplan!... let the waiting begin!!
NewYear626 , I am also preparing to take the test this semester. I have been doing alot of research about what is on the test specifically. Yes math is on the test. Kaplan, and the nursing dept has the break down of the test. Not sure why the the people there didn't give it to you (Actually nevermind the dept isn't really all that helpful to be honest, atleast not for me) . I'll paste the link Nursing Entrance Practice Test | Kaplan Test Prep.
Also I have also found that the kaplan book isn't the greatest study mechanism for the test as the kaplan book also covers other nursing entrance exams such as the hesi, teas, etc. Upon research and youtube reviews of the test I found that it is actually better to get a few books to get a more wholistic (did I spell that right?) view of some of the topics. I'm using some ACT and SAT prep books for the Reading and Writing portion, I'm going to go over the first few chapters of Calculating with Confidence (the textbooks used for math104) while using some HESI and TEAS prep books for math, and for Science I'm going to mostly just let whatever I learn from A and P 2 this semester hold it down. I am also gonna go over the important topics from A and P 1 and go over some basic chem stuff just in case.
This test you really have to do some digging to find the apropiate study materials. No one book covers everything. Hope this helps.
Also if you'd like you can message me privately and I'll give you my facebook and we can talk a little more on Facebook messenger, maybe even be study buddies! Good luck !
Hello,
I took the test 2 semesters ago. Yes, it does include math. Mostly basic math and couple of questions from math 104... I didn't find the Kaplan book useful (my personal experience). The A&P section included questions from A&P I ( many were about the brain)... The reading and writing part is difficult ( mostly because there isn't much time to analyze) I would recomend to practice ( SAT test type of questions for reading comprehensive and writing)... There is no Micro on the test, only Reading comprehension and writing, A&P ( suppousedly only A&P II, but you'll find questions from A&P I) and math.
Hey there! I took the entrance exam last spring and it was a combo of reading, writing, math (basic math such as decimals & fractions) and primarily A&P 2. The Kaplan book gives you an idea on what's on the exam but it also shows you information on other exams. I personally didn't like the Kaplan book. I used an old Hese book and a Barron's nursing entrance exam book. I also purchased a nursing math book On Amazon which gives you a nice basic math review plus is beneficial for math 104. Also if you look on bmcc website and in the nursing department area it gives you a run down of what topics are on the exam. Hope this helps! Good luck :-)))
HI!
I was wondering if anyone here is in the current evening program at BMCC for RN? I am trying to gauge the need for all these books, access codes they are recommending. I am told by some day program nursing students that they only utilized the nursing fundamental book. Never opened the concept mapping book or the nursing central access code. Any feedback? I don't want to waste $400 on something I am not going to utilize. Thanks!

Hi I am going to take the test for this semester coming up at BMCC, But need advice. I was told by the advisor that it is only A &PII, microbiology, Reading comprehension and writing. Why are students saying in this site that they took the Math too? What exactly is on this Kaplan test? I need to go over my studies.
I bought the Kaplan nursing entrance book 7th edition wondering if I have the correct book. The math on there is a Lil difficult. Please help.
