I have a few question for u guys

1st question, i recently developed a painful lump on the area where the pubic hair grows, i think its called the mon vernis(sp) any whoo its painful and swollen, my Dh told me its probably a in grown hair, i have never had those before so i don't know, would i be able to tell, would it swell like that and be painful. Could it be something else :rotfl: , Is it necessary to go to doc if it is a ingrown hair and if not what i can do at home to relieve the pain from it? I have been suffering with this for 1 week. I am in so much pain, even hurt while walking, sleeping and wearing clothes etc :o

2nd question, i am looking for type of birth control i can use that does not have to may hormones and will not make me gain weight any recommendations. I am 27 and i have never take any type of BC and scared of putting stuff in my body.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance:)

I developed a similar lump a few years back. My doctor saw no need to remove it right away. He told me to ice it and heat it. It went down in size but eventually it was removed because it did start to become more painful. In my case it was a simple cyst.

For years I took Orthotricycline. It was ok. I gained about 10 extra pounds and I was annoyed with taking that little pill everyday and the cost of it. After I had my son I opted for an IUD. It is wonderful. I dont have to remember to take anything and you can get one with or without horomones. I actually got the one without the horomones because my migraines were getting out of control. Once the IUD was in, my headaches went down and so did my weight.

Getting it put in was painful. Nothing I couldnt handle since I already had a baby. It was kind of like having contractions. For a few days only I felt weird and sore. Only downfall is that my menstrual cycle is a little more heavier. It was heavy to begin with. Now I am on extra iron pills for anemia.

I think I would definately try some of the newer birth control things they have out. Like the patch. Its easy and you wont have anything to worry about or remember.

Hope this helps. Sorry it was so long. :chuckle

Thank u for the info, i thought maybe it was a cyst, i just feel like i would be able to tell if its a ingrown hair. i will try to make me an appointment for next week, boy thats seem so far away :crying2:

Just try not to worry too much about it. Like I said, its probably a cyst and it will go away. Take care. Sheri

For BC, I like Nuva Ring. I believe it's http://www.nuvaring.com

I took ortho tricyclene for awhile. It was good for my skin, but it gave me migraines. They have ortho tricyclene lo, which is a lower hormone version of the same drug.

I'm not familiar with the term 'mon vernis' and wonder if you mean 'mons venus'. In any case, a painful lump in the hair would likely be an ingrown hair. A painful lump on the interior of the labia near the introitus would likely be a Bartholin's Cyst which is a blocked duct and/or infection of the Bartholin's gland. Bartholin's cyst frequently requires antibiotics, and in chronic or severe cases, a marsupiralization. In any case, if it doesn't clear up soon, please see a Doc!

Best Wishes

Thank U all!! and i standed corrected its on the Labia Majora

(Labia majora means "large lips" in Latin. The labia majora are the large, outer lips of the vulva that extend from the mons pubis down either side of the vulva. They are covered by pubic hair and contain fatty tissue under the skin.)

I been having this since MOnday it stillpainful and swollen, so i think i will go see a Doc, it would be different if it only hurt when I am doing something, but i can just be sitting or standing and it start throbbing with pain :crying2:

thanks again:)

I'm very sensitive to pills and hormones. I took orthotricyclen and had awful mood swings. I was very wary of switching to another pill, but I am married, and we don't really want a baby right now since we're both in school, so I gave the pill another try. I take Alesse and it works great! No weight gain, no mood swings, no skin problems. It actually made my acne much better.

Everyone will react differently to the different pills out there. The best thing to do is to try one and see if it's right for you. I like Alesse because of the low dose of hormones. The downside is you do have to remember to take it everyday on time, but I'd much rather have to deal with that then a visible patch.

denetra,

One thing about b/c that was recently pointed out to me that I had never thought about before was how does the b/c device work?? Does it prevent conception altogether or does it prevent implantation within the uterus? This was a big deal for me, because I had never really thought of it in that light. I had always considered it just birth control and the prevention of a pregnancy.

For example, many but not all b/c pills prevent conception-that is, the egg does not become fertilized at all. Some types of b/c, such as the IUD, prevent implantation inside the uterus. That means that an egg can still become fertilized inside of you, but simply can not implant into the wall of the uterus. IUD's irritate the lining of the utereus and therefore prevent implantation.

I know this can be a big issue for some people. I have heard some people say that the IUD is akin to an abortion. For some people, religion may say that a certain type of birth control is unacceptable.

I'm not trying to cause trouble here, and I'm certainly NOT judging anyone because I've taken b/c myself. I just wanted to share some info with you that had only recently been brought to my attention.

Like others have said, what works for one may not be right for anyone else. Wishing you luck with your search. I know how hard it can be.

Godswill,

Good luck to you in the search of birth control. Have you looked into NFP or natural family planning. I have been using NFP since 2001 and have had only one pregnancy - that was planned =] We are now planning for a second and I am sure the planning will work again. Good luck =]

I have been doing this for years( mostly just looking at my calendar and cevical fluid and estimating a week out of the month i should try to to abstain form sex) i did the charting, cervix fluid, tempature etc when I was ready to concieve :) . This is how i concieved my now 2 year old daughter, other than that i just sort of try to substain from sex doing my ovulation time and it has been working out great. I know the best way to prevent it is to try to chart correctly meaning cevical fluid, temp cervix position and all that, but i don't know if i will have time to do that every morning while in school :uhoh21: . That my thing, i would hate to get in school and get pregnant :uhoh3: Hubby asked me why would i want to put that crap in body, and i really don't want to. just afraid it will make my body act wacky and prevent me from concieving later if i chose too :crying2: I think i will reserch NFP more. Thank you:)

Never really thought about that, I do know my MIL had and IUD and it cause her a great deal of problems pain infection etc,and she had to have it removed, and after she had it removed 2 months later while on BC she got pregnant :rotfl: and i i am now married to that little one no one was expected :) I guess in a way i would prefer maybe a pill that stop conception, after being amothe rof a stillborn, it changes thing in you and really makes me think using bc at all is wrong :uhoh3:

Thanks for the info
