Depends on how in-depth the A&P is going to be. I sure needed my bio background when we had to describe gap junction pathways in atrial conduction...and understand the basement membrane diffusion across the alveolar/capillary interface.
I just finished Bio, and will take AP this fall. I am curious as too how much info I learned will be covered, judging from your post, I will say not much. I read about gap junctions in my bio text however, we didn't go into dept about it. I probably had 2 questions on the test about it. Maybe it will depend on the professor.
Some schools don't require it as a pre-req, unfortunately mine did.
In my school, biology is a prereq for A&P unless you took it in high school. I took it in high school so I didn't have to take it. I graduated from high school in '98 and took A&P1 fall of last year. I got a "B" in both 1 and 2....so no I don't think taking biology again is necessary. Good luck!!
You should be fine. I took Biology about(lets just say quite a few years ago) and just took A & P - got a B+. I would suggest you review a little before but you should be fine. i know of some people who never took Biology and got A-'s Our teacher reviewed a little on cell biology but even if your prof doesn't you can easily pick this stuff up fairly quickly.
But all this being said, over 50 % of our class failed so if you are not a strong student, it wouldn't hurt to study ahead or review your basic biology. A & P is not an easy course(as you probably know) even if you just took Biology but if you work hard at it, you will do well.

For those who have already taken A&PI,
1.) Did taking general BIO beforehand really help you succeed in A&PI?
2.) Has anyone taken A&PI and did well without taking a general BIO refresher course? (It's been two years since I took BIO and I passed with 'C'.)
I'm trying to decide whether I should retake the course to ensure success in A&PI next semester. Experiences and advice is appreciated!
