What are your best, worst experiences for online programs?
Did they require thesis or not, $ per credit, support of faculty, etc.
Here's a start:
Indiana State
362/credit for anyone
no thesis, but a write up on an evidenced based practice topic
faculty support...left hanging on many questions so far
requires 48-51 credits for FNP
Ball State
364/credit ........malpractice insurance
no thesis/no other project
one alumni interviewed reported great support. Helpful staff by phone so far.
requires 48-51 credits for FNP
thanks for the reply...I've been having a little bit of difficulty getting more information from Rush--getting the run-around on the phone, but I'll continue to pursue. website quotes only two weekends on campus. do you know if that's two weekends per semester/year/ever? Thanks for the info.
Are any of you working on your NP from overseas? I will be moving to Zimbabwe within the next year but would like to further my education. I will be working at a hospital and have both a MSN trained nurse (CNS) and a local doc... among visiting docs/NPs and other ex-pat docs... that I could use as preceptors. Still working on getting better internet service but was wondering if it was even possible. Thanks!
Bailey, I could be wrong but I think it's per year.
A lot of the info about their programs can be found online. That is where I found most of the info. If you email the instructors, you can get info that way too. The programs are outlined pretty well online though but do email someone depending upon what program you are interested in.
Regarding University of Missouri-Columbia, it is 42-45 credits, more than 500 hours in a supervised clinical pracicum, certified by the ANCC and the AACN. I like the teachers and my adviser. They give a lot of help with technical and registering difficulties. This is through chatting at the book store and library and 1-800 numbers. I am happy, as I have already said. The best is the one you are happy at. Krisssy I am curious to know prices, certifications, and clinical hours at other schools . Thanks. The clinical hours are so important. I origically picked it, because I didn't need to take GRE's or go there for any amt. of time to visit, do labs there etc. As I have said before, I love the midwestern laid back attitude!-compared to where I live Krisssy
