I'm amazed by how many of these I remember from their orginal airings, and how little familiarity blunts the shock.
At the time, and now, the most powerful moment for me was when the driver steps out of his truck to help, sees he can do nothing, and his body sags (around 4:22 in the montage) - that complete helplessness embodies so much.
As the usual TAC strapline says: If you drink and drive, you're a bloody idiot.
So incredibly thankful I never harmed anyone in that way...Lord knows I could have. To think of that possibility now in sobriety breaks my heart because when I was using I certainly wasn't ever thinking of anyone else.
What a powerful public service announcement that should be displayed for all to see!
