I am a CNA now and walk ALOT, plus being a nursing student. I see people wearing danskos but everytime i try them on my feet hurt. I love sketchers work shoes. The chant softies are my fav. My feet love them. I have had sesmoidities and arthritis for years. But I check with a pedometer i walk 14,000 plus steps a shift. My feet dont even hurt. My feet stay dry for showers, they are all leather and easily sanitized with wipes, non slip soles, and plain with no markings. I have black but i think they come in white too. I wouldnt trade them for anything.
Danskos are GREAT if you have high arches! I *LOVE* mine!!! I don't even have to put arch supports in them because the support is so good. I have to wear arch support inserts in my sneakers or my feet ache. My Danskos even have toe support in them. I just started my 1st nursing job as an RN and I do 12 hour shifts and the Danskos are wonderful. I wish I would have had them during nursing school. Our school also required all white shoes. Danskos aren't cheap. Mine were $135. But I feel they were worth every penny.
Some nurses also like "Klogs" brand. They are a bit more cushier & softer than Danskos, but didn't have as good arch support. I'd definitely go for the Danskos. Go to a nursing uniform store and try some on so you can see if you like them or not

Hi everyone!
I'm starting nursing school in January 2016. Our dress code states that shoes can be "white duty or all white athletic shoes." We cannot wear any open toe, open back, or multicolored sports shoes. I am looking into getting a pair now so that when I start I can have a comfortable, broken-in pair to use throughout the program. I've been doing my research and a lot of veteran nurses refer to the brand "Danskos" as one of the most comfortable for long shifts. I'm wondering if I should start with this brand. I have quite a high arch so I need lots of support. Would this brand help in that area? Anyone have recommendations for me?
Thank you all :)
