Best Remote Nurse Jobs?

Hi all, I'm really really looking for a position in nursing that I can find fulfilling and not feel like I wasted my time and money on working so hard for a nursing degree.

I've been a nurse for 3 years and burn out is not enough to explain how sick I am of nursing. I have not at all enjoyed being a nurse. Being a bedside nurse has honestly been a nightmare for me and from the beginning, I've said I Need to get out of this field. It's soo sad because I've worked so extremely hard to become a nurse. Being a nurse used to be my dream. I thought it would be a good/descent career. It's only fair to think that something which takes effort and dedication to obtain will yield something positive. So many times I've thought is this the end for me because I cannot continue doing this. As a bedside nurse I feel so lifeless and sad.  I could go on and on but I'll leave it here.

So, I'm really praying that I won't have to throw away my degree because I can't last as a bedside nurse. Isn't there a nursing position that isn't extremely stressful, anxiety producing and one can feel fulfilled doing? I don't want to be sad going into work. I don't want to be very nervous the night before a shift because I have to work the next day. I just want to enjoy my job. Before I became a nurse I was a nurses assistant and I enjoyed it. I didn't hate it. My job didn't put a dent into my life and my well being. I'm seriously looking for a remote nursing job, away from bedside, no direct pt care at all or extremely minimal. I've unfortunately heard that those can be stressful too ? so I'm like oh my gosh what kind of career is this? But then I also heard stories where people have positions they enjoy and are pretty simple. Before I leave where I am, I just want to go into something better, not worse. I also see remote nursing position where the job description is a lot with so many projects, having to do charts, etc and I know that's not for me although I'm seeing positions like that alot unfortunately. I've heard a lot about utilization review. Any remote nurses that can help and share information, pleeeeese help. I would really appreciate the information. Thank you!

Hello OP,

Just wondering how you are doing? Nursing can be stressful FOR SURE. When I went to nursing school I knew right of the top I didn't want to be a bedside nurse.

I've been a school nurse for 6 years and have worked as a PRN nurse for the same amount of time (I was working at a nursing home before that).

Although I was super stressed during COVID I still love my job. I love working with this population, being the ONE smiling person these poor kids may see ect. It does have stress, like any job, but my co-workers make it worth it.

Both home health and school nursing involve one-on-one interactions and community interactions which I love.

Hang in there, you chose a good career, now it's time to see where else you could work! I even saw a post on indeed once that was for a travel nurse for somebody in entertainment, how cool is that?

You got this!

Hi, thank you so much for caring to ask. Honestly I'm not sure how I'm doing. I'm trying to survive and each day & night just crying to God. I'm trying to last at my job atleast until next Summer for a specific reason but there are so many things happening, like to tear me Down so bad. I'm so stressed that it's starting to affect me more physically. Panic attacks through the roof. The day that I will see nursing as a good career and not feel I made a detrimental mistake, I can't wait. That position is very cool. I have definitely been carrying out research on school nursing and thinking about it. Thank you so much!

Will you share your journey on here?

Good luck!

I've spent the last 2.5 years at Carenet Health (www.carenethealthcare.com), and I can honestly say that I've never enjoyed a job as much as this one. We take calls from patients who are experiencing current health issues or who may have general questions. Mainly we're doing triage, but sometimes we assist patients in navigating the intricacies of their health insurance. The training is phenomenal. It's done remotely for two weeks, then you work with a preceptor for as long as you need. The pay is on par with many floor nurse salaries, and I even got a bump when moving from the bedside to remote work. It's worth checking out if you're looking for remote work with a great company.

I just wanted to thank you for actually responding to the OPs request and sharing a remote work option.

I find it very patronizing how other users have replied to suggest that the OP look into other bedside/clinical areas. That is not what the OP asked for. Bedside is NOT for everyone and the majority of nurses I know have lost their tolerance for the deteriorated state of the profession, poor leadership, and unsafe working conditions...anyone would be foolish to wear rose-coloured glasses and try to sell the current reality of bedside nursing as anything remotely attractive.

Once again, thank you for sharing a remote work option as requested.

Private duty or maybe school nurse ? Jobs I see posted on united health seem to be 8 hour days ... might be interesting . Office jobs.

I can definitely relate. Bedside nursing is tough. There are good days and bad days. Unfortunately the bad days outweighed the good days and I eventually left bedside nursing. There are remote job opportunities with insurance companies. Have you looked into those?
