Hi All,
I am contemplating going down to the US to work, after reviewing a few job offers from NC, SC and California. The hospitals seem to offer more by the way as speciality training than here in Canada. I am leaning towards California right now but would consider other parts of the US. I was wondering from all you Canadians living down there, how do you like your hospital? If so, are they recruiting? Can you provide contact names, etc.,:). I want a hosptial that has a great orientation and has lots of education and training provided, as well as offers educational allowances, because, I want to do my Masters. A signing bonus would not hurt either. LOL - Ok well I am asking for alot....Maybe this seems unreasonable, I'm not sure. Please post privately if you have contacts. Thanks so much :)

Neither would I, especially with all of the terrible weather out east.

If you have plan for your MSN, you might wanna consider UCLA medical center. The salary in UCLA H. is not the best in LA, but the education definitely is the best. They also offer tuition waived for UCLA H. employees if you enroll in UCLA. Fortunately, the nursing program in UCLA is top 10 in the States. The only thing you have to think about is the housing there is extremely high.

hey, i worked one contract at cottage hospital in SB... loved it... BUT... the only reason why i didnt extend was due to their low census. its a small hospital compared to the some of the ones i worked at. staff were very nice to travellers, lots of "young" people to hang out with. great area to be in, especially for the winter. housing is expensive ofcourse; they housed me in a tiny appartment. the only upside to that was it was close to downtown, restaurants, bars etc... i would go back there.. good luck! :)

I've worked all over the US and Maine and Idaho are by far my favorite states. It depends on what you're looking for.
