Best nursing area to build skill as a new grad?

Published

For all of you seasoned nurses! What field of nursing do you recommend for a man fresh out of Nursing School? I want to build my skills so i can branch out and be competent in any other field. And its a necessity that i pay my dues. Many female nurses ive conversated with tend to believe that male nurses take the easy way out and are green.

Hello,

Congrats on your graduation! Personally, I recommend going Med/Surg for at least 1 year. Once you get your fundamentals down, the sky's the limit.

Good Luck,

Cindy

Med surg here too.

Allows for time management with out super critical patients, exposure to lots of diagnoses, and a great many different meds. Also, lots of hands on personal care does wonders for assessment skills.
