Best Manhattan hospitals

Specializes in ER, PACU.

I am thinking about working in Manhattan, and I was wondering if anyone had advice on which hospital they would reccommend. I was thinking about possibly Beth Israel, Mt. Sinai, or Cornell? I work ER. Any information/advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

I highly recommend NY Presbyterian Cornell.

I have input on another one, but would prefer PM for it.

I think Cornell is a great place....I did some of my clinicals there and it was my favorite hospital out of all the ones we were placed. Everyone I came into contact with was so professional. Good luck!

What about NYU hospital? Anyone hear anything about that? I read on their website they have a 1 yr residency program....is this something special or a way for them to get cheap nurses?

Thanks,

Bryan

When I was in nursing school (I graduated May 2003) we used to have nurse recruiters from different hospitals come and speak to us, and this hospital was one of them. Things may have changed from that time, but this is what I remember from what they have said in April 2003 about this residency.

1) You must have a BSN and a GPA of at least 3.0

2) You cant choose any specialty you want. At that time there was only 2 or 3 choices, all med surg floors, but they were specialty like renal, and GI.

3) You dont make full salary until you have completed the one year.

I had thought about doing this when I was deciding on a hospital, but when I heard my options about where I can work in that hospital I was like forget it..But then again, maybe things have changed since then??

Thanks !

I don't think they've changed much if at all based on their website info and what you're telling me.. but i'm ok with working on the med surg floor for a year i'm just wondering by how much they cut your salary.....and is the kind of training they'll give WORTH the cut....

Thanks

Bryan
