Best countries to work as a nurse

I'm unsure about Europe, but the US isn't the place for nurses at the moment. Our new grads and also seasoned nurses aren't finding jobs. We're going through a recession at the moment. Who's to say it wont change in the future by the time you graduate, we don't know.

Right now you're faced with retrogression which means that it's going to take years to have a chance at a visa. It's even hard to find employers to sponsor you when they are laying off their current nursing staff. Right now it's just a tough time overall.

Sorry to correct you, But New Grad and seasoned nurses are finding plenty of jobs in my area if they are a RN.

In your area maybe, but is most areas that's not the case. Your area is the needle in the haystack that most are looking for. You should share information about your area as most are looking for places to find work. Thanks for sharing.

I'm glad to hear it. I have friends in various states who all say the same thing. It's hard to find work. So, where do you nurse??

I know up here funding issues have made it difficult for our new grads to find work with several provinces having hiring freezes.

I'll second the recession problem. I graduated last December and still have classmates that didn't get jobs (granted some were quite picky) - and our school was the preferred school locally. I had to move down to Florida for my job, and while it wasn't my first (or second) pick I realized with this recession I needed to take what I could get for the experience.

Currently my floor has a very high international population among floor nurses, but that's been changing over the last 3-5 years and within the last 2 recruitment has been nearly ZERO from my understanding. I've also heard rumor of eliminating international recruiting for a range of reasons. And this is the largest hospital system in Florida.

If your goal is really the US, I'd go to Europe first.

My cousin owns a recruiting agency in Florida and she also stated that they wont go with any foreign graduates for several reasons. My friend is a DSD who is also in florida and had some incidents with some questionable foreign graduates. Both wont do any international recruiting at the moment and have no plans in the near future.

Administrators are being hammered to cut agency costs, with hospitals having fiscal issues I see the use of an agency only being used for emergency purposes.

Yes Mark Perry why don't you post it on every singe State Forum & here in international so those who can't seem to find a job have the opportunity to find work.
