I'm unsure about Europe, but the US isn't the place for nurses at the moment. Our new grads and also seasoned nurses aren't finding jobs. We're going through a recession at the moment. Who's to say it wont change in the future by the time you graduate, we don't know.
Right now you're faced with retrogression which means that it's going to take years to have a chance at a visa. It's even hard to find employers to sponsor you when they are laying off their current nursing staff. Right now it's just a tough time overall.

Sorry to correct you, But New Grad and seasoned nurses are finding plenty of jobs in my area if they are a RN.

I'm glad to hear it. I have friends in various states who all say the same thing. It's hard to find work. So, where do you nurse??
I know up here funding issues have made it difficult for our new grads to find work with several provinces having hiring freezes.
I'll second the recession problem. I graduated last December and still have classmates that didn't get jobs (granted some were quite picky) - and our school was the preferred school locally. I had to move down to Florida for my job, and while it wasn't my first (or second) pick I realized with this recession I needed to take what I could get for the experience.
Currently my floor has a very high international population among floor nurses, but that's been changing over the last 3-5 years and within the last 2 recruitment has been nearly ZERO from my understanding. I've also heard rumor of eliminating international recruiting for a range of reasons. And this is the largest hospital system in Florida.
If your goal is really the US, I'd go to Europe first.
My cousin owns a recruiting agency in Florida and she also stated that they wont go with any foreign graduates for several reasons. My friend is a DSD who is also in florida and had some incidents with some questionable foreign graduates. Both wont do any international recruiting at the moment and have no plans in the near future.

Hello,
I am a future RN from Estonia (I have 2 years of school left). I have started to think about my future. I know i want to get a master degree in some other country and preferably settle in there. That is where my question comes from. Does anyone have experience or knowledge about nursing jobs in Europe or USA? I would like to know about working conditions, schools, salary and what kind of rights a RN has there? I know that US has the best salaries, schools and jobs (Nurse anesthetic is very appealing), but i would prefer staying in Europe. I am fluent in English and French. I wouldn't want to be just a care-taker, because i have studied too hard for this
Thank you for reading!
