Well it seems like a forever since I've been to an interview being in school for so long. Just graduated, passed and licensed. Now I can't seem to put a simple clothing combonation together for my first hospital interview tomarrow. So used to wearing junk to class and uniforms to clinical. What do y'all think may be best for interview clothing? I bought an awsome pair of grey dress slacks, have a pair of plain black flats, and don't know what to pair it with for a top or blouse. I'm not sure if the conservative grey and black look is a professional look, or should I wear a conservative longer skirt and taylored blouse. I can still hear my instructor telling us for our interviews, dress as business like and professional as possible. Hope I make the right choice.
Glad your interview went so well! Hope that when I come back to check the thread, you'll report that you were offered the position.
Thought I'd throw out some fashion tips for any others who might be reading this now: Don't feel like you have to go to the fancy stores and pay a lot for something nice for interviews. Hit the thrift stores--you'll be surprised! My best interview suit I bought at a thrift store for $55 (designer label, too!). I altered the hem a little bit, ironed it, and it fits like it was made for me (at least until I gained another 10 pounds). Some of my best "business wardrobe" finds have been from thrift stores or Goodwill. I figure that I'm not going to wear the outfit very often, maybe once or twice for an interview or if I have something buisness-like to attend, so why spend a small fortune? My favorite look is khaki/natural linen color combined with a sharp contrast like red, light blue, or black. I'm in FL, so also dealing with heat and humidity, and both of my "good suits" are linen-poly blends. They hold up better than plain linen and are cooler than straight poly. Keep jewelry to a minimum, wear hair conservatively, nice shoes. (This is flip-flop heaven here, so I generally wear low-heeled mules/slides. I've never found a pair of dress shoes that fit me and wear slide-type pumps with everything. My interview pair are natural leather, beautifully tooled, with a low heel. No way am I wearing hose--ever.)
